New Labs..what's up with my VL?
« on: January 28, 2013, 11:48:40 pm »
So, in 3.5 mo's I went from 9 million'ish to 504 which were my labs as of a month ago. Today, I got my new labs and my VL has only moved 75 points south to 429.

I have an appt with the ID doc next week to discuss, but wondering if anyone might comment on what this very slow movement in the last month might indicate if anything at all.  I was just so used to seeing such huge drops. I know things slow down when the #'s get lower,,but this slow?

My CD4 stayed around the same, high 600's with 20%.

Thanks.

Quick Edit..I never even thought of this until someone just pointed it out (thanks   Lostinthecorn :)  but can stress have a bearing on VL?

My stepbrother died just before xmas and a few days later a close friend had a massive stroke and has been in hospital since..he's not going to make it so it's just a day to day thing and i'm at the hospital pretty much every day right now..needless to say..it's all weighed very heavily on me emotionally.

Can there be a connection?

Hey Linc,

I had a similair situation occur when I first started meds. I had a huge drop and then couldnt get UD for about 9 months. I hovered around 800 to 1500 for several months. My doc did finally decide to change meds (From Atripla to Tru/Prez/Norvir) and I finally went UD a couple months later.

That being said, I wouldnt panic at all. Your doctor will determine the correct course of action. Although I doubt that he'll make any changes as you are still on a trajectory downward. You really are still doing very good!

Took me a while to get the last bit down to UD. Think it's common enough. Everyone's body is different and will respond to treatment in different time frames than everyone elses.

Lincoln,

How'd your meeting with your ID go?  I'm kind of in the same boat.  399,000-584 in two months then to 411 a month later.  I'm in for more labs tomorrow so we'll see what's up.  My charge nurse said VL is affected by both stress and other illnesses and I'm just getting over a cold this past week so I can't imagine my numbers will be much better :-\.  Your CD4s are in a good spot so keep your chin up!

Good luck!

Heya nerd ;)

So I did go and chat with the Doc and the Trial Coordinator.
You and I are on the same clinical trial. I'm on the Epzicom plus GSK744.  It's a double blind study but they have a strong suspicion that I'm on the 10mg dose as opposed to the 30 or 60.

I'm actually going back tomorrow for my next appointment where I'll get new labs and find out where I'm at in about a week or so.

If i'm not below 200, then I have to switch to a new regimen (getting kicked off the study! lol) They have already ordered Travada and Raltegrivir (Isentress) - (I think that's what they said) just in case.

So...we'll see how it goes and i'll let ya know!

How about you? Did you get your labs back yet?

Not an iota of difference between the two numbers.  Keep moving towards UD!  You're doing great!
