Title: possible false negative on rapid test
Post by: plainanimal on March 04, 2013, 01:14:44 pm
Hello, I had unprotected sex with a female who couldve possibly had hiv about 88 days ago. Since then i have had several hiv tests including a pcr dna test at 20 days which was negative and hiv rna test at 42 days which was negative. I also had two rapid tests done a 8 and 10 weeks which were negative. Obviously im the classic worried well case and paranoid. My story is I went in today for the final test which was at 88 days and would be considered conclusive. It came back negative but however i noticed the tester knocked over the testing apparatus and then she set it back upright. It was a clearview rapid test. She didnt seem too concerned about it and when the test was done she said it was non reactive. Im really disappointed because this was supposed to be it for me but then that happened. So my question is would that affect the test results or should i just move and assume my assessment was accurate. Thankyou for your time.

Your risk assessment was accurate and there isn't any need to worry or test again over this incident .
