Will these detox pills interfere with Atripla?
« on: January 11, 2008, 05:27:48 pm »
Hello All,

I am returning to the workforce, and will need to pass a drug test.  I purchased a "Chronic Cleanse" kit that has me taking these pills for 9 days.  They contain the following and I was wondering if anything here would harm me. Basically I take these pills and drink at least a gallon of spring water a day, avoid all toxins (pot) and no alcohol, and after 9 days I should be able to pass any urinalysis or saliva tests.

                              Per dose                       Per day
Chloride      600 mg      3000 mg
Magnesium      250 mg      1250 mg
Sulfate      75 mg      225 mg
Potassium      < 5 mg      < 30 mg
Sodium      < 5 mg      < 30 mg
Lithium      1.5 mg      7.5 mg
Boron      1 mg                   5 mg
Calcium      225 mcg      1125 mcg
Iodine      225 mg                   1125 mg
Alfalfa      1250 mg                   6250 mg
Pacific Kelp      150 mg      750 mg
Calcium Carbonate   125 mg      625 mg

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and have a great day.

Dunno. I don't think those cleanse things are real good for the kidneys.

I note you're on atripla. Are you trying to avoid triggering a cannabis false positive?

I'm trying to avoid any positive result, does Atripla cause false positive all the time?  I was under the impression that it was just a slight possibility.

If it always causes a positive result, then 1. I don't have to go thru this cleanse and 2. I have to disclose my HIV to my new employer?

Well, the way around this may be simpler doll. Can you not get a letter from your doctor saying that you take medication for a chronic condition and that medication has been known to cause false positive results on cannabis screening and in that either:

1. Urinalysis be adjusted to accomodate that or;
2. In the case of a positive on urinalysis another form of test be performed.

I believe that's what's done in these cases.

Thank for your help Matty - I found this info from Dr David Wohl UNC-Chapell Hill:  "Atripla is a fine choice. The efavirenz in that med can give a false positive for marijuana on older generation drug test assays. Newer tests do not have this problem. "  He suggested then to find out what type of test is used and ask about efavirenz and interference.

I had a friend who, while on probation, used one of those "clean-out" kits, because he smoked pot and didn't want to drop positive.  While it always turned out in his favor, there's no guarantee those things work 100% of the time.
