Atripla dosage during international travel

Hi,

I will be traveling from Mumbai, India to NYC, USA in a couple of weeks. Due to the big time difference (India is 9 and 1/2 hours ahead of NY time), I was wondering how can I continue to take Atripla at bedtime at both places - how do I bridge the time difference?

I tried looking if this topic was covered elsewhere in these forums but was unable to find anything.

I do hope I'm asking this question in the right forum. If not - please let me know which forum would be right to post this or the admins can just move it to the appropriate forum.

If you are undetectable it wont hurt to miss one dose to get back on track ... Atripla has a long half life so I think you will be just fine in adjusting your dose for travel .

You can also split the difference for one night while traveling each way.  You've got a 16 hour direct flight, plus several hours on each side.  You can take one dose mid flight about 18-24 hours before your evening dose would be due at your destination.  That's usually what I do, end up taking one more dose for the trip instead of one less.

Jeff G & AusShep: thanks guys - both are excellent suggestions and valid options.

I still don't know if I'm undetectable. It's been a month since I started taking medication & haven't gone for a blood test yet. My doctor wants me to wait for a little longer before getting a blood test. Given that, I think I will possibly err on the side of taking an additional dose.

I simply do the same thing, wherever I travel.  I take my Atripla between 8:30 and 10:30 pm in whatever timezone I happen to be in.
My reasoning -- I am "in the habit" of taking it at that time.  If I stick to my habit, I am less likely to get out of it and start missing doses. 
I travel often and this has worked for 9 years -- I was recently in Tanzania - 8 hrs difference.
Yes - that means a longer time between doses in one direction and a shorter time in the other -- but it doesn't matter with Atripla (or the Reyataz that I also take)
BTW - my doc endorses this approach.

Don't sweat this -- just enjoy your trip.

I agree with Bocker3, my doctor also advised me to take my meds at the same time, it doesn't matter in which country I am
