Can I have sex without condom?
« on: September 10, 2024, 07:19:01 pm »
So, can I have sex without condom with my girlfriend if I'm undetectable now?

Switched meds again on 21/21/2023 because I had no changes with the new meds. Now, taking Dolutegravir + Lamivudine only, the dual therapy.

How long has your viral load been suppressed? (Below 200 copies)

Look, if you have had a suppressed viral load (below 200 copies) for at least six months and continue to take your medication then you can not pass on HIV sexually. See here for the long answer: https://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=71848.0

Of course, there is always the risk of other STIs and depending on your situation pregnancy.

Ojo.         Hi there!, I agree with Jim and I think that with all those mental issues you are dealing with personally I would not recommend you to go and have unprotected sex. You do not need more problems. Humble opinion…abracos

Thanks, Jim. It's been way below that for more than 1 and a half year.
Yeah, well, it's something that she wants from me but yeah, I'll talk to her about it. Indeed I cannot have a kid right now to raise 😆.

Yeah, talking with your partner about your concerns, feelings and contraception is never a bad idea. It could be that they want condomless sex but are okay using other contraception methods.

Personally, I think if people wait for a "good" time to have kids (if that is something that you both want), they will never have them, as there is always something going on, life is messy. However, I agree with Tonny2, you are still digesting the diagnosis and overcoming some challenging issues so maybe right now isn't a great idea.

Anyhow, hugs and wish you all the best.

That's a good point. We are never good to have kids 😆. It's an act of sacrifice.
Thanks guys, 😊
