HIV Risk against very wet vagina?
« on: September 16, 2010, 02:01:37 am »
hi there all, hope all is well. I wonder if you can assist me with this small anxiety problem I have. I searched for answers on your site and there was a lot of variations of questions, so forgive me if im wasting ur precious time.

to summarise, she was on her stomach naked, and I lay on top of her, she was very aroused, I rubbed my penis against her very wet vagina, after 5mins or so I came. I was wearing synthetic bike shorts for the entire time, however as you can imagine they were wet with her vaginal fluids and my "load". What are the risks of HIV transmission through a wet synthetic "barrier"(or other std)when both people have climaxed and no penetration but very 'heavy' rubbing.  Thank you very much.

dont know if this is related but about 2 weeks afterwards, ive developed a throat/chest infection

"Dry humping" or "clothed frottage" is not a risk for HIV transmission. You do not need to be tested for HIV as a result of this sexual encounter.

Please take the time to read our Welcome Thread and follow the links to our lessons on HIV transmission.

thanks Matty - anxiety has been quite high lately (I can be mentally weak at times)..

Before reading part of me couldnt tell the difference if a penis was in or out a vagina and that it can make such a huge difference, also the fact the barrier was a synthetic which would keep viruses "more" alive..

sorry f0r poor grammar

Mate, if you were wearing bike shorts then I think we can conclude that your penis was not in her vagina.

This is not a risk situation in terms of HIV.

Euro,

I live in Australia too. :)

It's quite alright. I know this stuff can be hard to understand. If I thought you needed to be tested I would tell you that.

HIV is transmitted through unprotected vaginal and anal sex, through sharing contaminated needles and syringes and from HIV positive mother to her unborn or nursing baby, under certain circumstances.

Dry humping will not give you HIV no matter how wet her vagina is or how much you cum in your shorts.

Take care,

MtD

Between now and the grave hopefully many decades from now you are likely to have many sore throats and other bodily reactions. They don't mean a thing as far as HIV is concerned. A sore throat is not an HIV specific symptom and in fact neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anything accurately about your HIV status.

If you ever have a real risk such as specifically unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse, then the only way to know your status accurately is to get tested at 13 weeks.

But as of now you are worrying needlessly and there's no need for testing. If you have a persistent sore throat or any other "symptoms," discuss them with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV in terms of the incident that brought you here.

Euro ,

As I explained above:

HIV is transmitted through unprotected vaginal and anal sex, through sharing contaminated needles and syringes and from HIV positive mother to her unborn or nursing baby, under certain circumstances.

Receiving an unprotected blow job is not a risk when it comes to HIV transmission. Nor is fingering or being fingered. You are worrying needlessly.

Use condoms whenever you have anal or vaginal sex and you'll be safe from HIV.

Fingering is not a risk for HIV transmission. And in the entire history of the epidemic no guy has ever been confirmed to have been infected through receiving oral. It's safe to say you aren't going to make history be becoming the first.

Get on with your life. Happily, HIV is not an issue for you at this point.

Studies have shown that uncircumsized penises have, underneath the foreskin, the specific type of dentritic cell that HIV can latch onto. Once a penis is circumsized, however, it develops a harder keratin protecting layer over those cells.

So the short answer is yes, during unprotected sex, all other variables being the same, the man with a foreskin is at greater risk.

But this does not in any way change the answers given to you regarding your situations. HIV is very fragile, and requires sexual penetration to infect, barring the sharing of drug needles.
"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."
