« on: April 25, 2011, 03:10:49 pm »
I've been listening to comedy albums and looking for some inspiration

My current favorites:

Moms Mabley (from 1961!)
Robert Klein - "Child of the 50's"
Phyllis Diller - "Are you ready for..."
Lawanda Page - "Watch It Sucka!"

Here's a bonus for LaWanda Page fans:

One of my older favorites that I enjoyed, A classic,...  was David Frye --"Richard Nixon, a fantasy". This album was from 1973 ( still have it) And can be heard here, by clicking on the tracks on the right side.

I just found out, he had passed on back in January.  Did a great impression of Richard Nixon:

An Evening with Mike Nichols and Elaine May
The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart
Down to Earth (Jonathan Winters)

All 1960, a good year

also anything by Ruth Draper, though her monologues are not exclusively comic ("The Italian Lesson" is a great introduction to her work)

Gene Tracy by far.  I was caught listening to one of his records when I was about 10 years old and my parents almost went into meltdown.
