POSSIBLE INFECTION - RAZOR BURN - PLEASE HELP!

Hi everyone,

About 2 weeks ago, i had protected anal sex with a man.  Before we began I asked him about his hiv status and he replied that he was 'clean'.  He's a pretty honest individual so I trust him on this.  However there is the possibility that he  was unaware of his status and assumed he was negative.  The part of the episode that caused great concern for me was the frottage.  About 5 hours prior i shaved the area around my anus, i may have potentially caused razor burn.  During my encounter, he proceeded to rub his penis around my anus (but never entered).  He's a heavy pre-cummer and I fear that there may have been precum present that got into my potential razor burn wounds.  What is my risk?

As long as he was wearing a condom and it didn't break then you were covered literally and figuratively during this incident. Condoms provide very effective protection. The kind of foreplay you are worried about is not a risk for transmission.

I don't see any cause for testing nor for further concern about this incident. We do in general recommend that anyone who's sexually active regularly have a full STD panel done. Do it at least annually and every six months is even better. There are other STDs out there which are much easier to acquire than HIV.

But you do have the right idea about condoms. No matter whom you are with and honest you think he is or how great he looks. whoever is the insertive partner should be wearing a condom. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Frottage, with or without razor burn, is not a risk for hiv infection. We see people with razor burn here quite frequently and none of them have ever tested postive because of it.

You didn't have a risk.

While you're here, please read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence. Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection.

Hi Everyone I have a quick question I was hoping you could answer.

I met up with a guy at a bar and he went back home with me to mess around.  During the course of the evening he inserted his fingers into my ass including his index finger on his left hand.  The issue is that he had cut a pretty deep cut into this finger earlier in the day which started actively bleeding again.  I noticed this after he had already fingered me because some traces of blood started to appear on my sheets.

While it is dubious that the cut passed my second sphincter (voluntary sphincter) - it was on the middle of his index finger - I was wondering if this episode warrants testing?

First of all, I have merged your threads. Please follow our rule and keep all of your entries in this same thread.

Bleeding finger or not, I have never known of anyone to ever have been infected through fingering. No, not with nicks, cuts, bruises or any such and as you may realize fingering is a very common sexual activity. We would have known longer before today if it was a risk. Theoretically it might be, but in the real world of HIV infection just doesn't happen that way.

I don't see a need for testing. However, if you're going to worry and wonder, as you have in the past judging by your previous concerns, then get tested at 13 weeks and collect the inevitable negative result.
