Gaga is so pre-Rapture.

I happen to **love** The Rapture, especially this song*.

*The linked video is their studio version, which is musically excellent, however the actual video is lame-o, despite having been filmed in Paris. This live version is also very good, but distinctly different (I believe that the bassist, not the guitarist was responsible for the original vocals, among many other differences). Fall in love with the original and you'll appreciate the live version (also filmed, oddly, in Paris): the oddity being that they're a Brooklyn-based group.

As to poor Brittney, it's a pity that she's the meal ticket of so very many. She really should just retire with dignity (not that dignity's ever been her strong suit).

Gaga's a symptom of everything that makes me so glad to have misspent my youth listening to truly great popular music, whether Disco or Post-Punk. She recycles everything with as much remorse as she has talent (much though I find Bad Romance personally satisfying): she covers songs no one bothered writing circa 1986, when all the true early-80s geniuses had been exhausted and it was left to Madge to pull up the slack.
Blessed with brains, talent and gorgeous tits.

I thought I was listening to Deborah Harry when "Electric Chapel" shuffled into the mix on my mp3 player.

I first thought of Billy Idol's White Wedding.

I'm sure some DJs can coax some dance floor gems out of it. But of the really coarse Ibiza pow pow disco type.

Italo is so mid-1980s.

She's really made it now

And this isn't the first person to use that instrument and do a cover of this song.  I couldn't find the one from the commercially successful artist I was initially looking for.
