HIV meds in Ft Lauderdale
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:28:51 pm »
I just arrived this afternoon in Ft. Lauderdale for a ten-day stay.  As I was unpacking I realized that I had left my bottle of Stribild sitting on my kitchen counter in Ohio.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get an emergency supply of meds?

One thing I plan on doing is calling my insurance plan and asking if they will approve a ten-day supply that I could pick up at a pharmacy here.  Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

I also did an on-line search for HIV resources in South Florida.  I'm pretty sure there are substantial resources here, but my search only found county health orgs which might be a bit more bureaucratic than I have time for.

Finally, if all else fails... would a ten-day break in treatment really mess me up?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Wow ... timing is everything and a holiday week is a tough time to come through in a pinch like this .

If I was on that med I would help you out ... keep bumping this thread and if a forum member sees it and can help I know they will step up, they always do when they can .

Best of luck .

Probably seems too obvious, but is there anyone who has access to your meds that can overnight them?  I would certainly help you out if I had your meds available.

Hopefully someone can chime in soon so you can truly enjoy your vacation.

I don't know if it will help, but try calling Care Resource One it's a local ASO very close to Ft Lauderdale.  Phone# (954) 567-7141.

Wolfie's suggestion is probably your best bet.

Thanks for the help.  It seems like the problem is solved:  Dr at home called in ten day supply of meds to CVS and insurance gave me a special vacation override.  Now it's time to go the beach and get some color!

Merry Christmas.

You left Ohio just in time; crappy weather has returned.  Enjoy!
