I am a closeted homosexual and I did something very stupid, 8 weeks ago this sat, I had sex with a gay male escort that has also done gay porn (in all of his porn he used protection).

He said that he was std free and hiv negative and gets tested regularly. Given that this was my first gay experience, things got outta hand. We had protected anal sex, me topping him, but due to my nervousness, I couldnt stay hard so lasted for about maybe 1 minute, he tried to top me, but that hurt too much and lasted for a bout 30-40 seconds. There was a lot of mutual rimming and oral sex, me giving and recieving. I know that given the context of what was done, there was no condom breakage, but I had brushed my teeth before meeting with the escort and brushed my teeth afterwards, I am not sure if there was any pre cum when I gave him a bj. Am I at risk of hiv.

Almost 4 days after I developed diarrhea, which lasted about a week. Then came back 2 weeks later and cleared up in a couple of days. Since day 4, I have had a white tongue that cannot be brushed off, it looks like bacteria towards the back, I though it was thrush, but my doctor said it wasnt. At my urging, at week 4 I got a elisa test, which came back negative (is that a good indicator?) I still have the white tongue, I have had slight night sweats (I don't wake up drenched, but slightly warm), last night I think I might have been running a fever. It also feels like I have a gagging sensation at the back of my throat, maybe due to my tongue. I also have been brushing it and it looks like there is a very small white patch on the side of my tongue that does not look like it will brush off, it looks like it could be oral hairy leukoplakia. Very slight swollen lymph nodes, it feels like small peas sized bumps under my chin.

When I spoke with my doctor, I let him know everything that was done and he said that it was low risk, I however left out the part that the individual I met was a gay escort. I called the escort back and he reconfirmed that he is negative and he plans to stay negative, he is probably around 26.

I am so beside myself with concern, given these symptoms that occured directly after the exposure. I shouldnt have done it, but that cant be changed now. This was my first gay experience.

What do you think my risk is, I am going to be getting another test which will be an 8 week elisa test, will those results be a good indicator. Given that the individual is a gay escort, that has done gay porn, but no longer does gay porn, does that put me at a much higher risk of contracting HIV.

I am hoping that it comes back negative, but I know I will have to test out to the 13 weeks. Please give me your thoughts and insight on this very stupid exposure that I had.

HIV is not transmitted by oral sex, doesn't matter if you brushed your teeth or not.

Thanks for the quick response and the "symptoms" that I have been having? I am a very healthy young guy and its just strange that I have been feeling this this for so long, its been like 2 months. Do you think it is caused by guilt, anxiety. Honestly, this is practically the only thing that I think about every day and I know it is not healthy, but I cant help it.

If I get a negative on an 8 week oraquick test, will that be a good indicator? Was my 4 week elisa negative test and good indicator? Eventhough the individual is a male escort, that does not increase my risk?

You won't have anything but a negative result because HIV is not transmitted by oral sex.

So I went and got a rapid antibody oraquick test and the results came back negative! I am so surprised and I am hoping this is a good indicator that I will be negative at 3 months. My only confusion is that my clinic said that I need to get tested at 6 months for a conclusive result. While others say 3 months is conclusive, and dr. HHH has said that he has never seen an 8 week negative turn into a positive at 3 months.

Does is sound like I am in the clear? I still have the issue with my tongue, but I am really hoping that it i being caused by something else!

I took a 3 month test and the results were negative. It was a oraquick rapid oral swab HIV test. The clinic I went to told me that in order to have a conclusive result, I need to test at 6 months. Is my test conclusive, or do I still need to test? Do you ever see anyone test from 3 months and then become positive at 6 months. I am wanting to put this behind me, even though I feel I have had symptoms and so many issues with my mouth. Please advise.

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results

Your 3 months negative is reliable and conclusive. You do not need to re-test.

Thanks so much again for all of your advice. One last question, separate situation. I made out with another guy last night, nothing else happened except for kissing on and off for about 30 minutes. Is there any risk of exposure? The other guy said that he is negative. Is there any risk in kissing? Earlier in the week I had a canker sore, does that have an effect?

Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug abusers
Mother to child

I do not have the answer to the CDC's view on kissing and HIV infection, except to note that the site has not reflected new and developing transmission science to any real degree in the seventeen plus years I have been HIV positive.

Oh, you can poke around the site and find articles. But the easy-to-read lessons remain sadly, but predictable, unchanged.
