the dreaded day is finally here...I have my "surgery" to remove that damned "lesion" from my butt. I've heard horror stories about the pain during the recovery so I am nervous as hell. I already got my prescription for Prince Valium so I will be pretty doped up by the time I get to the hospital and I made my stop at my favorite cannabis club and picked up so kick ass indica ( I tried it last night at 8pm...and I was out by 9pm..at least I know I'll be able to sleep).
The ass doctor said I could go back to work on Monday... I say..YOU ARE FUCKING KIDDING ME, RIGHT?...from what I hear from other people who had this done, they told me 1 to 2 weeks...so we will have a little talk tomorrow before she burns my ass because I want next week off, or I will be very high on pain killers at work and that is not good.
Also...last time I was there and had a biopsy done, she never gave me a local anesthetic...so I told her that if I felt any pain whatsoever during this "surgery" I would kick her in the face..and I meant it...

I wish you good luck with this honey....hope your recovery is not too bad. I know that there are some people who do really well -- but then, some have horror stories. I think it mostly depends on the surgeon. My ex had butt surgery back in the 90's, and was in so much pain he could not walk, but had to crawl from room to room....the only thing that offered any relief was sitting in a hot bath.

I have had HPV removal procedures (a few times) and some were worse than others. Let's hope your surgery is one that "goes well", with only some mild discomfort for a few days. Let us know how you're doing !

If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you're having removed? Are they warts, anal fissure, haemorroids, ...?

I have a high grade lesion caused by HPV (basicaly it is an abnormal cell growth with high risk of becoming cancer). The abnormal cells will be cut off and burned ( OUCH ).

Rich, I feel for you.

Had it done last year in November and had 5 areas which were high density ( worrisome for cancer ).

They did the laser therapy (burning them) and scraping them out (cut out ).

I was given local anesthesia ( freezing )which was depending of the location, a bit uncomfortable.

Try not to worry as they have never returned since I had two biopsies and I am all clear.

This is the best treatment as suppose to having them burned with liquid acid.

A word on advice; ask for pain killers, drink lot of water and eat fiber.

The bleeding was not so bad and yes I was back walking around 3 days later and sitting comfortably.

You're ass will be in my thoughts.

I don't think I'd like having (medical) procedures down there... it's so sensitive plus it's hard to see what's going on. I guess it's one of the few times guys get to feel as vulnerable as a woman at the gynecologist. Seriously, I hope it goes well. In addition to the green and the pain killers, don't forget the stool softener / fiber. It should make things a bit easier to pass. Take care and heal quickly.

I had this done, twice even. Under general anesthesia, as an out-pt. Butt doc gave me percocets, lots of 'em, when I went home. They're good, but nothing, absolutely NADA, is as good as the bathtub. I promise, stay close to your tub. That warm H2O will do the trick, and instantly. Take care!

Can't agree with Richy enough. The bathtub will be your best friend. It was the only time I didn't feel any pain. When you need to use the bathroom, the first thing you need to do is have a warm/hot bath ready. The pain while using the toilet was very extreme for the first few days (3-5 days). And there was lots of blood. So don't freak. Just have your bath ready.

Richy and Cliff are spot on with the bath tub advice, it will certainly relaxe you and ease the pain a little..so soak it up young man, but leave out the perfumed bubbles...

All my positive thoughts are being sent your way and wish you a speedy recovery. I have had this done twice like Richy, and take his advice about the bathtub. It will be your best friend. I soaked three times a day and the healing process was fairly quick. And, for lords sake, take your pain meds.

You'll back on the saddle before you know it, friend.

I had the same procedure done in January this year.
HPV.... version 18 or so...I have my second follow up on Dec 17th. The first one was negative.

Please make sure you get stool softeners from the nurses or doctor.
What helps is using ladies sanitary napkins between your cheeks.
They tend to absorb the moisture from your intestinal scars and so lower the risk of irritation.
Make sure to have enough pain killers for a week or so and take lost of luke warm butt baths.

DONT FORGET THE STOOLSOFTENERS FOR THE FIRST DAYS

I will chant for you in the plane as i'm heading back to the Bay Area tomorrow in your honor. Hopefully with your belly full of pain meds and your ass all warm and snuggly in that warm water, you'll be free from discomfort.

Just remember kiddo...December 15th in Bodega Bay. You'd better be all healed up so you can perform CPR on me when i'm trying to get to the top of that big hill.

I've had the bad butt burnin' thanks to HPV, though the freezing kind, not surgical (yet). I go for a high-res anoscopy in January so who knows what they'll find $:-\$

Best wishes too. Sometimes it is best to ruminate in advance... that way when the procedure happens it isn't nearly as bad as you feared. Usually when I am about to have an invasive procedure in my bottom area poppers are extremely helpful. Oh....but wait it's not that kind of invasion.

Let me put it this way. It will be painful for weeks, but it will heal and then you will forget that you ever had the procedure. Yes, the pain is real, but I had the surgery to remove a skin tag and legions awhile ago this year and now I feel as if it never happened. Just keep the area clean, know that as the weeks go by, the pain will lessen and take pain killers. Best wishes.

My recovery didn't take anywhere near "weeks" but perhaps that was an exception. In fact, I recovered so quickly I had excess hydrocodone and used it to get high by triple dosing.

thank you all for your posts....I've been in a lot of pain but lots of pain killers so I don't remember much to be honest...today is the first day I have actually done anything. I hope I never have to go through this again...
I'm okay, just in pain still and from what the doc said I will be out of work until next Wednesday, too bad I am not really having fun on my time off...
