Please help!
I am switching from kivexa/prezista/norvir to Truvada/TIVICAY tomorrow, is it completely safe to take it without the meal or not, since the meal is "boosting" truvada....
I was told i could take it without the meal, but if it works better i would still eat it, otherwise prefer not to....
Thanks a lot!

Hi
Look eating food can in some drugs alter the absorption and plasma levels. It's true but studied and taken into account when drugs are approved.
both drugs you are taking it can be taken with or without food and levels should be fine. Personally I took this combo with food, bio yogurt but that's just me.
In short take the meds as instructed by your doctor. Included Truvada link below.
Sorry for the short response but I'm in Tesco shopping. I might update this with a longer comment later.

Thx Jim!
Written on the box from tivicay can be taken with ot without, but truvada booklet in the box says take it with the food if you can.... So i guess should be better to eat something before anyway.. My dr. said i could take it without, and i prefer not to eat before , but if it is more eeffective i would eat it...

Hi
You're welcome, strictly anecdotal I just found that with food when I was on this combo its was more gentle on the tummy during the first weeks of adjusting to it.
But yeah your doc is correct you can take it without for both drugs and they will also be as effective as needed.

Thx Jim!
I already ate my first dose today, i decided to start with a piece of bred before the pills everyday for beggining and sometimes if i am not at home, i will skip bred before.
After a month or so maybe even completely stop to eat before...

If it gives you some additional peace of mind, than I think its a great plan and I truly mean that.
Keep us posted how you get on, all the best.
