Since when did influenza (other than bum influenza) last for 20 days?

Even if it does you're a waste of Tamiflu which, as I understand it, has to be taken BEFORE symptoms start and still doesn't do much anyways.

Frankly if you've got influenza you should be too sick to sit up and use a computer. Probably you have a cold with pretensions.

Harden up,

Well actually there was a break of some three or four days before I was told that i have influenza B.  First i had the symptom around the chrstmass time then it came back after three or four days when I saw the doctor who said it is Influenza B.  It is this doctor who prescribed me tamaflu and Rubitussin for the disease.

I have never had such a bad flue in my life.  It devastated me.  May be I have to take flu shot in the future.  Yes I had hard time getting to my computer and write my story.  Anyways I will see my doctor afte a couple of days.

Poor guy, flu is awful I can't imagine having it for 20 days.

Yes get the vaccine next year.

I don't know of any medicines that fight flu so maybe the traditional remedies could help --
rest rest rest rest.  did I mention rest?
books and movies and tv
chicken soup, lots of tea, lots of garlic.

You doing any/all of that?

I've read in several places I don't have energy to cite that Tamiflu is essentially worthless.

Here's a link. It's not science-y like I like, but hey, I have junk going on.

I actually did all of them.  i take too much rest.  I went to the doctor as a last resort.  Taking more rest may have repercussion on my work which would have negative effect on my overall health.  If I don't work, I will not have insurance.

Right you are! Well I hope you can slog through this.  I personally think that 20 days is not "flu" and you need a better diagnosis and hopefully treatment and results.

Sometimes I have got results from doctors by saying "I have to work, and you have to fix me because I have to work and the world collapses if I can't work."  This has occasionally resulted in closer and more effective doctoring and thus treatment.

Well, I stopped now coughing.  Robitussin great job.  However, head ache and fatigue still continue to bother me.  i am left with two and half days of tamaflu.  Hope after finishing the dosage I might recover well.

Even if it does you're a waste of Tamiflu which, as I understand it, has to be taken BEFORE symptoms start and still doesn't do much anyways.

You don't understand it. Tamiflu can be used either as prophylaxis or treatment. In the treatment case, it has to be started early on. My doctor prescribed it to me as treatment for the flu last tuesday. He said he prescribed it because my fever only started the day before .

As to what it does, that can be argued. The flu has resolved now for sure. I had one of the worst nights of my life last monday when it started. The second night after the Tamiflu was much better despite still ahving fever. On my 5th night now and it's essentially resolved. But I missed the entire week of work.

However, there were some nasty side effects from the Tamiflu in terms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Though I was having the first 2 before the Tamiflu, it was clear that the taking of each dose of the med increased nausea.
