I had received oral sex and was involved in deep french kissing about 6 weeks ago. I understand it is a very low risk activity, but being very worried i went and took a rapid test after 5 weeks. It came back negative. Though i felt good for couple of days after the test, I am again now worried a lot. I would really appreciate if somebody can tell me how many people turn positive after 5 weeks. Shall I go and have another test after 7-8 weeks or this should be it. I still have horrible night sweats and sore throat. That is what is worrying me more.

You're mistaken about getting oral and deep kissing. They aren't LOW risk. They are NO risk activities.

In the entire history of the epidemic no guy has ever been confirmed to have become infected in that way. You aren't going to make history by becoming the first. Kissing is also absolutely no risk. Your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively inhibit the transmission of viable HIV if it's even present.

The only confirmed means of transmission of HIV sexually are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. If you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well and effectively protected. Everything else is risky only in theory.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I forgot to mention that I have bleeding gums..and very consistent symptoms. I also read claims at lot of places that people did catch HIV through these kind of activities. All these in bundle have lead my anxiety and therefor testing. Also it will be helpful if you can provide some statistics on testing.

Just because some people may claim to be infected that way doesn't make it true. Some people are just too ashamed to admit to unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, others don't remember what they got up to when under the influence of drink and/or drugs. Some people don't want to admit to taking drugs intravenously.

The bottom line is that not only is saliva not infectious, it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Therefore, getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection and neither is kissing, regardless of bleeding gums.

You need to accept your negative test results and move on with your life. You do NOT have hiv and you do not need further testing over this incident.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv. You don't have hiv!

There is no need for further testing unless you just want to collect more negative results for your own peace of mind. No risk, no risk, no risk. Period.

Thanks guys..it does help me. I have few more additional questions. I was tested with uni gold rapid test. Does that test cover hiv 2 and if not, shall i just dont need to worry about hiv 2? And is acne/pimple outburst on chest with combination of sore throat, fever and few night sweat a symptom for ARS? Thanks again..

No Bob, HIV-2 isn't a worry unless you live in Africa or parts of SE Asia. In many cases HIV-1 tests will also detect HIV-2, though they are not guaranteed to do so.

In any event, the test you've used is approved and well regarded. You don't have HIV.

We've told you previously that we don't discuss symptoms. If you feel ill see your doctor.

NO. You do not need to be tested for hiv 2. Not only did you not have a risk in the first place, but hiv 2 is even more difficult to transmit than hiv 1 is.

YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK FOR ANY SORT OF HIV INFECTION. You need to accept the fact that you do not have hiv and you were never at risk for infection.

I had a high fever and sever night sweats the last two days..also my family got sick with diarrehea last week..and i have started worrying again..do u still think I should believe my 5 week test results or should go for another test including hiv 2.

You don't seem to be listening to anything other than your fears.

Whatever is causing your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor.

And your concerns about your family's health. You can give a virus to any of them that you don't have. And if you did have HIV they wouldn't get it by contact with you, they would get it by having unprotected intercourse with you or sharing intravenous drugs. Oh, you're not doing any of those things with them? Well, then and especially since you are yourself HIV negative, your fears are frankly, ridiiculous.

Cut out the drama and get on with your life. Really.
