HIV rapid testing.
« on: September 13, 2017, 03:09:04 am »
Hi.
I have involved in a one time encounter with a CSW. We have used a condom but when she was on top,I didnot get erection so I took the condom with my hand and masturbated with same hand..After getting erection I was on the top and a wore a new condom and  did vaginal sex and ejaculated in 2 minutes. As the ejaculate was inside, condom was fine..I removed the condom and washed..After 15 days I got tonsilits, fever etc...
However After 5 month 22 days mark I went to "GUIDING RIGHT" and took a oraquick teeth swab and the technician said in 10 minutes it was negative..This eased me a bit as i went through INTERNET and got scared about late seroconversion. Again I went to same place and tested with the "Chembio Sure check" finer prick it came negative at 7 month mark.
After that I went to different place and tested with "Clearview Hiv test" finger prick at 8 month which came back negative.
After all these tests. I am still scared about the false negatives and accuracy of the Rapid tests. Can I believe these negative tests and move on with my life.

You had no risk to begin with.

Removing the condom and playing with yourself is not a hiv concern. HIV is fragile and does not remain infectious once exposed outside of the human body to the environment/air, this is because the receptors needed to infect are damaged leaving HIV unable to infect you.

Move in with your life, whatever symptoms you have it is not HIV from the incident posted here.

Thank you for your reply and concern,
But are these rapid  tests reliable...even in the late stages of hiv...like 6 years after similar exposure ie protected?

Can I believe and move on ?

Thank you

They are reliable and a negative result is conclusive after 13 weeks.
As Jim has told you, there was no risk to begin with and yes it is safe to move on.

Hello Jim and Wade,
Good News,
I have tested NEGATIVE using 4th generation Duo Hiv lab test after 11 months.
It says it detects both P24 antigen and antibodies. Can I believe the results of the test..
I have read on the INTERNET that 4 gen test will not be useful after 3-4 months as the P24 antigen will not be detected after the acute infection...and can the antibodies still not formed?
Please help,
Thank you

Asked and answered before, but ill expand on the answer for you.

The tests are conclusive after 3 months and if you are positive you will test positive for life. P24 antigen levels drop after a few weeks below detection levels hence its not used as a standalone test, its combined with a standard antibodies test. Antibodies do not go away or drop and the test is conclusive after 3 months post incident.

Now you had no risk and no incident to test for in the first place, you tested anyway and as expected its a negative result. Stop reading rubbish online and move on with your life and put this behind you.
