Infected 2 months ago, just tested poz, first lab results
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:22:04 am »
Hey there everyone :) Thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences and witness yours. It's helping me a lot through these hard times where I feel so alone.

Infected on August 23rd, 2013
Went through ARS exactly 14 days later
Diagnosed Positive on October 19th
First lab results came in- CD4 658 VL 62,000

Only problems I'm facing are severe depression and night sweats. Decided not to start treatment yet.

Keep on keepin' on.
Aug. 24th, 2013- exposed
Oct. 19th- tested poz
Oct. 22nd- CD4 658 VL 62,000
Dec. 12th- CD4 609 VL 23,000
Jan. 03rd- started treatment (clinical trial- blind study of either Stribild or Truvada)

Welcome to the forum,

Im new in here my self, but I personally think u should start treatment.
Yr numbers (cd4) are good right now, but why wait ?

U can very fast get yr viruslevel down to UD.

Ofcourse u decide, but u should listen to people with more experience than me, but i suggest u to start treatment, before u get low cd4, and risk being sick.

Best of luck

Hugs
Peter

Thank you peter!

We are going to monitor my CD4 and VL over the next few weeks to see if they can naturally go up/ go down. I'm only 20 years old, so my doctors believe delaying treatment if I'm already healthy will be the best possible route.

Welcome to the forums, but wish you didn't have to join us.

I think, given your CD4, that it is perfectly reasonable for you to take time to deal with all this and get some labs under your belt, so you know whether you are seeing a stabilization or a trend downward.  The key thing is to just stay in care, as many younger people fall out of care.

I'm sorry to hear this happened, but glad you got tested and know your status.  Keep in touch.  Ask any questions or concerns you have.

Ted.

Welcome and sorry you have had this news. You have a good CD4 and I would underline the importance off regular medical check up,s.

Off course you are depressed, its the most sane response , but that does not mean you are going to stay that way .

As a LTS i would like to say thank you for the bit about witnessing other peoples lives , if you feel up to it and the facilities exist think about a support group and make sure you tell us how the first visit to the clinic/doc went.

All the best
