We're not supposed to be above freezing for over a week.  I don't mind, I want a massive snow fall this year.  I'm heading in to Winter without injuries so I might get to enjoy it.  Perhaps I can finally make another huge snow fort?

Believe it or not it's snowing outside, but it's also 35F which means it's colder aloft a bit.

(it's currently NOT snowing at Granny's so I guess Miss P wins again!)

Its 26 here and I am going to have go out in it in a bit . My friend Ron is in a bit of a pickle and needs my help . He had hernia surgery and they did a Laparoscopic surgery but the problem was that they had to fix 6 holes and I think it left him feeling like he has been shanked 6 times and since he is rather large man he is in a massive amount of pain and truly needs assistance while his husband is at work . Also ... it feels good and free to call him my friends husband since they got married . It brings a smile to my heart every time I say it .

It's 43 and raw out here on the Cape . Nasty !!  I feel for your friend Jeff,
I had a bi-lateral hernia repaired , I think in 97. It was the old fashion way with two big incisions
The pain was miserable , and was constipated . My business looked like the Bride of Frankenstein
VERY large and swollen , Shame I was in too much pain to use it !!

Betty said she needs a hobby , maybe she can knit everyone underwear...

One of our winter predictions is in! -- you can see our last five seasons accumulations (2009-10 was our #1 in recorded history, and last season was #2 or #3) but this season while still over our yearly average might not be as bad as last year.

SUMMARY:

Average winter temp: 31.8 degrees (3 below "normal")
Snow 40-45” (“normal” is 22”)
HIGHLIGHTS
*COLDER THAN LAST WINTER
*COLDEST SINCE 2002-03
*>40” SNOW 4th of last 6 YEARS
*FEWER DAYS WITH SNOW THAN LAST WINTER
*AT LEAST 2 STORMS OF 12”+
*POSSIBLY MORE SNOW SOUTH OF PHILA.

>>> so I need to majorly stock up on snow/ice salt when I go home to my parent for Thanksgiving and have use of a car.

I'm so jealous.....I want all that snow.  We only got the cold with a little snow.  I NEVER whine about Winter, I save all that for the nasty hot Summers.  ;)

Plus, it's the time of the year when I can enjoy my nice flannel sheets.  I bought a really expensive set last week in anticipation.

I know you like winters Greg.  I don't mind this time of year, though I really like the autumn weather better (the temps in the 50's and 60's).  Until, that is, there's a shit ton of snow that has to be removed in order to get out of the driveway.  Though we are supposed to get a snowblower before the heavier snow hits.  And speaking of that, this is really not a good time for the broken leg because I can't help to clear the snow.  My housemate had to clear that stuff we just got.  And it was not forecasted ahead of time.  Totally unexpected.

Speaking of flannel sheets (of which I am a fan), I got into fleece sheets a couple years ago.  Last year I got a set that is so soft, and maintains that softness even after multiple washes.  They are a little more expensive than flannel, but I love them.

I would love to see what Sac looks like with snow. It would be so pretty. I really wish for some heavy rains and snow. But it's unlikely.

Well, I always like me a little winter -- so long as it only comes when I want it!!  I do not want this cold just now.
We are sailing out of New York on Tuesday aboard the brand new Quantum of the Seas cruise ship.  It is forecasted to be in the 30's as we set sail for a 3-night cruise to no where.
I've only ever brought a heavy coat on one cruise before -- Alaska (and that was only because we were going for a dog sled ride on a glacier).  Oh well -- the main point was to experience this new ship -- I guess we'll see all of the inside of it (hope the casino is a generous one)!!

Have fun on your cruise.  We're also taking a 2 day trip.  To Louisville, KY of all places.  ;)  All that way for a damn pottery shop.  OH well, at least I can interact with my southern boys.  I've always been highly attracted to my southern KY boys.  The dumber the better even.

We got down into the 20's in Central Texas, and expected to have sunny weather starting Saturday. WRONG! It was misting as I planned a hike in the nearby state park, and turned into a downright drizzle. So we've not been hiking, just driving carefully, and although it warmed up a bit it's getting cold again. Still drizzling for 2 days now.

I feel cheated out of Fall. We should be having what you Northerners refer to as Indian Summer about now.

Officially, Louisville got 3 inches.  But, the city/county is huge and some places got 5 inches.  We were trying to think of the earliest accumulating snow.  A few years ago, we got an inch or so on thanksgiving night.

We are now bracing for lows in the single digits tonight.  School was out today, as the storm hit overnight.  I bet school is canceled or delayed tomorrow, with the bitter cold and freezing roads.

The snow was heavy and collapsed the protective net over the pond.

It's 17F here right now with 21mph winds and the sky is dumping snow exponentially.  We are due to get 8-10 inches this evening and overnight.  Tomorrow the temp will be going down to between 0F and -10T.  I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY WHINING ABOUT BEING COLD!

Ted do you have fish in the pond? Do they fair well in the sub-freezing weather? My son just made a huge pond and has gold fish (coi/coy?) in it and was curious how they do.

Northern Indiana, right?  Lake effect?

Oh, I was watching the Today Show and they were showing what was trending on twitter.  At the bottom is JCPS.  That is our school system, Jefferson County Public Schools.  We are one of the bigger school districts in the country, but it must not be as hard to trend, as I thought.  I guess the same as getting in the NYT Best Seller's list.

We have goldfish and koi.  We worried, too.  Here, they need at the bare minimum 18 inches depth, but we are tad over 2 feet deep, now. They all survived last year, when it was just 18 inches deep.  They go dormant and hide away in caverns.  Can't feed them, even if they wanted it, or it will likely hurt or kill them under 40 degree water temp.  Got to keep a hole in ice, if it freezes over.  Our fountain kept a hole, but some use heaters.

Betty always unfortunately wins the prize. It IS a good time to stay put with your broken, broken bones. Just smile and offer hot cocoa when your roommate comes in from the cold if you can. You still can be her hero. lol.

Ted, good luck this year. It might work out ok. We need 30" pond depth here and had a few fishy floaters over the years. More consistent frog fatalities but they came in on there own and took their chances.  :'( At least they had a beautiful summer... well except those who were swallowed whole by bullfrogs and snakes.

Ahhh... winter.  >:(

The wind, rain, and the thunder storms, made it;s way through here at about 1:00 this afternoon, with some tonado warnings in effect for this area. They have since expired.

Our rain gauge shows about 2 inches of rain, and the current temp is 68 degrees.  Cooler temps are on the way !

I definitely think we chose the wrong time to go on vacation.  We walked mere blocks along the Ohio River before being chilled to the bone.  Guess we'll be spending the evening in the gayest little hotel room I've ever witnessed.  I truly thought it was a joke when I first saw all the gawdy decor and this had the highest ratings of any hotel in the area.

But then again, it is where it is.   :)  stay warm all.
