The gay uncles....
« on: May 21, 2007, 08:29:26 pm »
It's great being the gay uncle, or in my case great-uncle's partner!  Yesterday, we had a family gathering, my partner L's niece and nephew christened their new baby girl....we get to gush and coo over the baby, hold her (they even named this one after great uncle L.) and buy her pretty things.....then we say "bye bye".

It's great, too, having a new baby in the family.   My great nieces and nephews (my brother's grandchildren) are already grown and in college.

I am always so impressed with great parents, and the job they do in raising their kids...this is the 3rd child for L's niece and nephew, and they seem to be doing a fine job of raising their children!  My hat's off to all you parents in the forums...

Love,

Alan   ;D

Congratulations! :-*  Babies are great.  I saw one at Kroger's today and was in awe.  It's been quite awhile since either one of my grandkids were that small.  I love to watch them grow but I do miss the "tiny" years!

Sounds faboo Alan. I am expecting another grandchild in the fall. Michelle is preggers, and we have confirmation that this one will be a girl. Wish we were close enough to you for the whole uncle Alan thing.....that would be so sweet.
Of course, I would be happy to supply the tissues..........you know how you are! ;)
The best thing about your post is that it is indeed wonderful to hand them back and wave bye bye at the end of the day, or fussiness occurs, whichever come first.

I have 2 nephews, 3 neices, 1 grat nephew & 1 great neice. The best part of being a uncle/great uncle is you don't have to change diapers! LOL Y

Honey, Fang has turned out to be a big ole sissy.   She's the original "scared-y cat" .  Every morning, we play a game called "let's go to work".   I get my briefcase, and she runs out the door of the apt. into the exterior foyer....sniffs around and basically makes me chase her back inside...but if one of the neighbors opens their door or makes a noise, BAM she sets a new speed record running back inside.

I'm an uncle several times over and a great uncle and I won't let any of them call me uncle. They all call me Rod, except for my nephew who always stays to my left side and calls me asshole because he knows I can't hear him on my left side. Maybe if I wouldn't jack up his four wheeler and take the wheels off it he wouldn't call me an asshole. Alan, I love them to death, just because I know they only came for a visit and are going home with their parents.  ;)

Were they on sale?  ;)  Unfortunately, our last Kroger closed years ago.
