Questions About Treatment & Side Effects / HIV-1 Integrase Proviral DNA
« Last post by kentfrat1783 on January 09, 2025, 08:07:18 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I hope this message finds you all well. Things in the States are feeling pretty chaotic right now, and with 11 days to go, we can all probably guess what’s coming. But let’s set that aside for a moment and focus on the good stuff!

1. Great news to share—my CD4 count has climbed to 413!
Finally made it into the 400s, and I really don't know how to feel.  Then again I'm still in shock I made it to 200.

2. Now, onto the real reason for this post.
I recently received results from an HIV-1 Integrase Proviral DNA test, which I believe is the first time they’ve run this specific test for me. Most results seem clear, but I’d appreciate any insight or experiences you can share about these findings:

NRTIs, NNRTIs, PIs, INIs: No mutations detected.
PRB: "Probable or emerging resistance."
Other mutations detected:
RT Gene: A98S, R211K, L214F
PR Gene: L63P, I64L, H69Q, V77I, L89S
IN Gene: M50I, L74I, G163E

This report just came through today, and since my doctor hasn’t reached out, I’m assuming there’s no immediate cause for concern. That said, you all know me—I’m always curious and anxious.

Does anyone have experience with these types of results? Are these possible mutations typical, or is there something I should be paying closer attention to?

Thanks in advance for your insights. See you Saturday.

My research

Please share.

Anyhow, I doubt many forum members are going to have to jump in with experince taking Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and the HIV meds DRV/r+TDF.

There is only a moderate warning on drugs.com, but when you check it's not specific to HIV drugs and only notes to monitor levels for diabetic treatment and possible dose adjustment.

The Liverpool HIV interaction checker has essentially the same conclusion.

https://www.hiv-druginteractions.org/checker:

Quote
Coadministration has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a clinically significant interaction is unlikely. Tirzepatide is metabolized by proteolytic cleavage. Tirzepatide delays gastric emptying, and has the potential to impact the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications. However, based on available interaction studies, a clinically relevant effect is not expected with darunavir/ritonavir.

-based on available interaction studies, a clinically relevant effect is not expected with emtricitabine and tenofovir-DF.

I’ll ask my healthcare provider

That's a good idea, if it's the HIV doc then they should know and have the experience from treating others to share.

Questions About Treatment & Side Effects / WLI - mounjaro
« Last post by TabooPrincess on January 09, 2025, 03:59:40 pm »
Apologies if posting in the wrong section.
Is anyone using or have knowledge of weight loss injections combined with ARVs please? Specifically mounjaro.
My research only shows the ARVs may stop the mounjaro working properly, not the other way around (obvs I don’t want to affect the ARVs working properly). I’ll ask my healthcare provider but looking for first hand knowledge too.

Do I Have HIV? / Re: I was bitten by a guys and there was blood involved
« Last post by Jim on January 09, 2025, 09:51:34 am »
In brief, your adult HIV risks are:

* Condomless intercourse & a minute (theoretical) HIV risk if you give a blowjob.
* Sharing drugs rigs (Syringes)
* Blood products/ transfusions (Rare nowadays in most nations thanks to screening)

That's it.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and consider getting vaccinated against HPV, Mpox,  Hepatitis A & B.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Asked and answered already.

I recommend you get tested to confirm your HIV & STI status, that is the only way to know your status.

To be honest i cant remember at all and i really dont think so it happened. As i didn’t experience the penetration pressure, the gripping, the warmth and wetness or the feeling overall ( sorry for the description). I dont have sex at all except for before 4 years protected sex which gave me anxiety. If it happened i would have remembered i lost my virginity unprotected sex but I can’t recall it. I think its anxiety which makes me making up things. You said you know people 12 years while HIV waa causing damages but wouldn’t they know something is wrong and they are constantly ill and doctors have to do several blood tests to determine the cause of repeated illness and not improving.
