The good  post topic has long gone to the past, I suppose its been 4 years from the post topic,  hiv with the mental health and stigma?  Maybe I'm over the years for the support group, there is no one left to turn to, my people are gone, seems it's for me and my cat to work things out in the maze, is there a virtual online mental health HIV support group? Being everything is far away for me, the world has become crowded and noisy, as time gone to the past many have  passed on , I'm still here, without a diagnosis from a " doctor" Ill except i am solated,  now im an introvert with anxiety,  that's because I don't like noise and the hurry of the world,  I hope to find a virtual online support group with my people, otherwise,  it's just me and my cat left to find a way and coping skills on our own, I'll admit, over time, slowly, one by one, I have gone away, I have left and set myself in a world behind a locked gate to be a Stewart of a forest , it's a beautiful forested jail by myself, I wonder how long this can go on, alone, Isolated, nontrusting of others, iv become adapted to it,  its startingvtobwear on me though, a virtual support might help open up the thick chain of the locked gate. That's where I'm at, you can move the post/topic, I don't mind, hiv, may 6th 1986

Touch of AIDS  ;D. Jim always makes me laugh.

I also had a touch… well it was more like a kick in the ass

I laugh though because I only wish that it had "touched" me. AIDS slapped the hell outta me! LOL

Kick in the ass AIDS
Slapped the hell outta me AIDS

 ;D

When i went for my follow-up consultation to review the results (i can see results online before we meet) they raised adherence, the BLIP but also the fact all other results were the best they have been and i shouldnt panic - in the event i am.  They werent too concenred but need to watch.   This particular doc had never heard of POZ so i showed her what was written here.   She was impressed.   Also in agreement.

Later on She did ask me to consider moving from Triumeq to Biktarvy as a future option.  Both for heart health and resistence thresholds.  After some discussion we both agreed given  1) i was  negative for HLA-B*5701. and 2) i have no other detected adverse effects, then best  to stay on triumeq rather than removing one important drug from the HIV arsenal.  Should any problems arise in the future (resistance or other side effects)  we Can consider at that time.

Glad to hear that they were reassuring regarding the micro blip and confirmed there was no need to panic. If in the future, you ever start to stress about a blip again, remember to read back this thread  ;)

Biktarvy is not making me smile as in the commercials

 ;D

Yeah, do you mean this one? So the smiling writer signing her books, and the guys hiking through the woods? I might smile on camera if someone paid me, or if I was a published author or if I was on what appears to be some outdoor sex hike through the woods.  ;D

Anyhow, Biktarvy doesn't make anyone smile, and it certainly doesn't fix you, it only interrupts the lifecycle of HIV, that's it, and your VL is now suppressed, so that means it has worked and is working perfectly.

so much variation in symptoms and experiences online

Would anyone like to share their experience?

So my story isn't going to help you and reading stories online will not fix your problems, of course, when hearing or reading these things there are going to be differences, it's not just a simple HIV diagnosis, it is AIDS and we were all diagnosed in different decades, with different meds and broken systems, now a lot has changed but also all had different OIs, Trauma, levels of damage done & other physical & mental issues etc before even starting to deal with HIV.

I am having some problems. Rashes, blue spots all over my body- not on the surface like KS, but easy to see. I've also continued to have neurological problems and memory loss. Still having sweating, muscle and bone pain.

Can anyone confirm if this is normal? My previous medical team said this was just in my head, that they didn't want to spend the money on further tests and to wait for the medicine to work.

I'm not surprised, you have AIDS and were hospitalized with multiple serious and potentially life-threatening issues before they found out your HIV status.

Now you only just started HIV treatment and your CD4 count might have bounced back but some people with AIDS will get sicker before they get better as the immune system starts functioning again and dealing with stuff it had ignored, It is also why HIV treatment is sometimes delayed when dealing with AIDS.

Anyhow, long story short, even if some level of IRIS (Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome) isn't an issue for you, then healing and recovery can still take a while and generally, I would not be talking about a few days, weeks or months and I am not going to sugarcoat it that some damage can be permanent.

What I would stress is its not all doom and gloom, early days and you have just started this journey. Your body has suffered, give it time to heal and work on things but don't ignore issues, so do report any new or worsening issue to your healthcare provider, as we also get other health issues, just like the rest of the population and you don't want something that requires treatment/care to be missed.

The only other thing I would do if I were you is to speak to another Neurologist for a second opinion and to rule out any underlying causes for the problems, also, it can't hurt to talk to a Psychiatrist, you have been through a lot. Have to be honest, if I were in charge of HIV care, it would be linked to psychiatric care.

I wish you well and I hope you start to feel better soon. Hugs.

Hello! To good from you after all this time and it's very good to hear that you're doing well. Unfortunately we still lose people from time to time (RIP numbersguy last month) and some we lose because they are doing well and move on. And some of us are still here.

Stay well and stay in touch!

Do I Have HIV? / Re: Help me 😭, I need to know if I have been infected
« Last post by leatherman on Yesterday at 09:03:57 pm »
You did not have a risk for HIV.

HIV is transmitted through unprotected anal/vaginal sex or by sharing injection needles. Neither of those happened in your situation.

Have a good day,
Michael

Reducing Your HIV risks:
With no exceptions, use condoms correctly and consistently for anal or vaginal intercourse
Talk to a healthcare provider about PrEP as another layer of protection

Get tested yearly for HIV and other STIs.
If you don’t use condoms and/or PrEP, test more frequently

Some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other more easily acquired STIs. It is possible to show no signs or symptoms from an STI so testing is the only way to know.

Get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

What’s the ONLY way to know if you’ve been infected by HIV or an STI?
Get tested.

It has been almost four years since I last read and posted here on the most important issue we all own. I remember many of the people here, and most I don't. Is anyone missing, BTW? I hope there is not. Currently, my number is 824 and I am undetectable.  I also added 'Rosuvastatin' for cholesterol control to the medication I am on and changed my HIV medication from Atripla to Dovato.  Good to see you again, hope you have a very nice time. TKS

I accidentally pricked my self with a solid sewing needle on the table , I don't know how long the needle has been there, can I contract HIV from this scenario?
