Here is an article on HIV from the Irish Independent Newspaper today
"I had to tell my future husband I had HIV"
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/health/i-had-to-tell-my-future-husband-i-had-hiv-and-his-reaction-blew-me-away-woman-on-living-with-the-virus-and-its-myths/a1407727231.html

Article says the HSE (Irish Health Service), is running another advertising campaign to "to address misconceptions around the virus and help reduce the stigma associated with it."

Always good to see this educational advertising campaigns.

Living With HIV / our complicated relationship with pharma
« Last post by leatherman on Yesterday at 11:39:53 am »
Here's a good article about a part of the very complicated relationship PLHIV have with pharma. We need the drugs so they have us over a barrel; but we also need meds that work without causing more harm - especially when pharma knows they have better meds - not to mention the harm caused by strategizing development and release for profit and not patient health.

https://marksking.com/family-and-friends/exposed-document-betrayal-of-people-with-hiv/

It was one thing to take less effective meds, with the accompanying horrible side effects, in the early 90s just so we could stay alive; but it's a whole other thing to be taking a med in the 2000s that is known to be less effective with harmful side effects.

I would have posted this in the AIDS Activism section; but the "advocacy" as related in this article isn't the kind of HIV advocacy I would ever condone. The signers on this amicus brief do us all a disservice.

Hum…
I’m a city boy and live vicariously thru the Am I Infected forum…
Maybe I need to look into village life…

Sorry to hear that as the "Am I" section, is terrible sex, it's always stories of intercourse that lasts less than 30 seconds and overpriced handjobs. It's rare for anyone to post anything good.

As for village life, well it has its drawbacks, particularly in Ireland as it means you end up sleeping with loads of people who are related to each other  :o Suppose it is one way to get to know your neighbour's family  ;D

Do I Have HIV? / Re: Unsure if I kept myself safe
« Last post by Jim on Yesterday at 03:55:40 am »
The test in this case was a tad pointless given the no HIV risk event and timeframe but you're welcome.

Continue to use condoms for any intercourse, and as you are sexually active, get a yearly STI & HIV screening out of standard routine. Consider PrEP and getting vaccinated against HPV, HPV, Mpox & hepatitis A & B.

Thanks for the reply Jim. Additionally, I took a 4th gen AG/AB test from the clinic today (27 days) and the results were negative. Since there was no risk, I will move on from this! Once again thank you for all the advice given to me and everyone else!

Pornographic performers aquire HIV & STIs the same way the rest of us do. In some nations, the industry tries to reduce the risks by regularly testing the performers, but it still happens.

Anyhow, where do you post your question? "Do I have HIV" covers: Information on HIV exposure, testing and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) "How can I prevent HIV" covers general information on safer sex, condoms, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and other prevention tools.

If you are unsure use this rule: Any post-exposure concerns or questions you have  = Do I have HIV.

Keep in mind that, if your question is about someone else's HIV status, exposure or story, then regardless of where you post it, we're not going to answer it.

.

Guilt tripping. So her oil boiler stopped working Saturday evening and my neighbour asked me to look. I said, no she is a cow, let her freeze to death but they went with the whole "Ahhh go on, she's a woman on her own and it's the weekend" etc, to guilt me into doing it on Sunday
.

Yeah, that's the type

LOL that is brilliant Jim! I love when things like that happen!
