Memorial Remembrance List
« on: July 28, 2013, 02:52:36 pm »
Hello all,

On the day of our memorial Service we would like to make up a list of name of friends/loved ones who have passed away due to HIV/AIDS.

Jody read the list for us last year (if memory serves), hopefully we can have some music playing and candles being lit by those attending while the reading is being done.

I think it's a wonderful and respectful way of remembering our friends who have passed on, so please use this thread to put forward names you would like read out or you can PM me, the choice is yours.

I will also need someone to volunteer and read the names during the Memorial.  Please let me if you are interested.

We are starting this thread a little late this year -- please have all names in this thread or PM'd to me by noon Aug. 7th (US east coast time).  This will allow me to create and print out a list to bring to Chicago.

Remember -- you need not be attending to put forth names.

Thanks,
Mike

while the memorial service can be very hard to bear (I remember our service in Seattle), it's one of the most beautiful ways of remembering the people we loved who are gone. When other people learn of my loss, they often tell me how sorry they are for that loss. I know they mean well; but I often feel that they don't really understand. But I know that when we, the AM family, gets together to recite our list of names, all the people there hearing those names really do understand what a loss it is to me and I understand what a loss it is to y'all.

I'll be there in spirit with y'all at the service and thank you for remembering our lost loved ones. :-*

If I were able, I'd be glad to read the names but I just know I can't.  That's the most emotional aspect of the entire memorial for me.  Mark did an awesome job in Seattle!!!  As did Jody in DC.

I'll limit my input to the two people that I love and miss the most;

William Thatcher and
Gregory Anderson

Thanks to whoever steps up.

Remember -- you need not be attending to put forth names.

Hey gang --

Wanted to highlight this from my original post -- YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ATTENDING AMG TO SUBMIT NAMES FOR THE MEMORIAL.

This is our chance to remember and reflect on all those who have gone on -- whether we personally knew them or not, this is the place for us to say their names and ensure that their memory lives on.

Hugs,
Mike

I'm sad also that you won't be there.  I'll always appreciate how you patiently talked me through hours of being lost in Seattle to finally get me to the hotel and promptly greeted me with a great hug.  I believe you also stayed in contact with me when I got lost in DC figuring out where I was.

Thanks to Ann for providing the names of so many of our dear friends at Aidsmeds.com who have gone on before us, RIP to all those great folks who helped and educated so many people here.

I am also sad that I will miss this year.  Lots of great folks and I have never had anything but a fantastic time bonding with you.  Like RAB, I will be there in spirit.

Can you kindly mention my friend and roommate of many years, Leslie Deutsch, as well as Jeff Klokis, and Justin Murray.

Safe travels to all and have a great time in Chicago this year.  Keep us posted- I know you will. ;) ;)

Gary has done it again.  A very reflective memorial service.  So eloquent and passionate!!!!  3 years of his superb services has afforded me the opportunity to get past some of the grief that I've kept buried for a long time.  A huge eternal thanks to our much beloved Gary.

This is still the highlight of my trip.
