Bartender bare hand in my drink

(1/1)

Wiseman2024sa:
Greetings there,

When the bartender prepared my mojito drink he used his bare hand to add ice and mint leaves. I got worried if his hand had a cut and the blood got into my drink during this process and I eventually drunk it. I went three weeks and took 4th gen lab test and the result was Negative.

My questions:
1- is this an HIV risk
2- Do I need to test again as a result of this

Thanks

Wiseman2024sa:
Thank you for the prompt and informative reply.

My last question, is the 3-week 4th gen lab test enough to put this whole thing behind, i know you don't think testing is needed to begin with but I just wanted to hear the confirmation from you. I think 3 weeks is enough to develop any maker that can picked by the 4th gen lab test, right?

sorry to bother you

Jim Allen:

Zero HIV risk, not testing is already conclusive. Move on with your life.

Jim Allen:
Zero HIV risk.

Your concern lacks any of the simultaneously needed environmental and biological conditions for HIV transmission, also HIV is fragile and receptors needed to infect corrode outside the confines of the human body leaving it unable to infect.

5 of the weirdest HIV transmission myths
https://www.beintheknow.org/news-and-blogs/5-weirdest-hiv-transmission-myths-ever

In brief, your adult HIV risks are:

* Condomless intercourse & a minute (theoretical) HIV risk if you give a blowjob.
* Sharing drugs rigs (Syringes)
* Blood products/ transfusions (Rare nowadays in most nations thanks to screening)

That's it.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim
