Ever had "one of those days?!!!!!!!!"
« on: August 19, 2012, 10:02:25 am »
Hi All!

Was working yesterday....feeling ill, when my shoe broke in the middle of the road  and I couldn't walk on it all.... (I had a service user with Learning diff with me at the time!).

This has never happened to me before!!!!!

By sheer chance my mum was in the same town...how random?!!!I limped on to the bus with one shoe on, one in my hand, one service user, all of his bags, pouring rain, by now soaking wet hair , no umbrella.......asked the bus driver "Are you my Prince Charming?".
Everyone on the bus started to laugh, I laughed until I cried with laughter, mascara running down my face.....one shoe.......it was so funny!!!!!!!!!!!

Supermum saved the day.. I phoned her .She met me at the bus station  and had bought me a wee pair of shoes!

I gave her a big hug, laughed and thought Yep....I've got Aids, Im feeling crappy today and  I can still laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not wanting to sound corny or over the top but im realising im lucky to be here and I've got to keep my sense of humour!!!!!!!!I love my mum!!!!!!!!

Cheers

It's bad enough to have a shoe break (I take it the heel snapped?) but to have it happen during a downpour, having to catch a bus and with an LD charge in tow - well that just takes the proverbial cake. Glad to hear you saw the funny side. How did your client take it?

I remember once when I was only a month or so into my diagnosis when I had "one of those days". My freezer needed to be defrosted and to make a long story short, I got impatient and used something a little too sharp to chip at the ice. I managed to puncture one of the freon lines and ended up crying my eyes out. Then I suddenly burst into laughter - the whole thing was just so ridiculous with me bawling like a baby over something so trivial (all things considered).

It ended well - by coincidence my partner's boss was getting rid of a perfectly good fridge to make way for a fancy one with an ice maker and all sorts of bells and whistles, so I ended up with a better fridge than I started with, and for free as well. I'm glad your mishap ended well too. :)

I'm surprised you had rain on Saturday - it was a beautiful sunny day here - it was actually hot (a rarity on the Rock!). My daughter is home for a short visit and her father (my ex) and I took her to the Wildlife Park. We haven't been there together as a family since she was about five years old - so twenty years ago! It rained quite a bit yesterday though and today's looking like a mixed bag: it's sunny right now but it's also blowing a hoolie and clouds are coming in from over your way. I suspect we'll have a downpour before too long. Doncha just love the British "summer"? I hope the weather is nice in the North West tomorrow - I'm off to Liverpool for the day.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
