Treatment Life Span

Hi, I've just completed a year taking Truvada and Efavirenz, did someone of you know what is the life span of this kind of treatment before it becomes ineffective? Thanks.

I literally just read a response from Dr. Gallant, on this very topic.  The questioner said a nurse told him or her that the virus will eventually begin to replicate again, finding a way around the regimen.  His response was it is just the opposite.  He said the longer you've been on a successful regimen, it is more likely to continue to work for life.

With all due respect to nurses, they are not doctors, and I never listen to them about more technical issues like this. Not only that, they should not be dispensing such advice in the first place.

Sorry for digging this posting out.
This is the very question that I  have been having since I got diagnosed.
I strongly agree with MISS P that nurses should not give something like bum steer.
Is this expression out of date in American English now?

Booo! Snapping my fingers! Hissssss! Whistling in one accord or whatever tradition your culture has to jeer at nurses talking out of place!

My doctor's nurse referred to HIV as "...this disease, it you can call it that..."

Even in context I cannot figure out why she would went there with that qualification. It was my fourth visit in four months as a newbie. I was upbeat and alert at the appointment which is a great improvement over the first three. My new numbers were great and this comment was the only downer from that visit.
