I was bitten by a guys and there was blood involved
« en: Agosto 13, 2023, 08:03:04 am »
Yesterday I went to Antwerp Pride. There was this outdoor party, and I was there with friends (no sex, no drugs involved, I was sober all the time).

I've been talking to a "pup" guy online. He is a nice person. I found him at this event. He was there with his partner. He gave me a hug, but then he bit me on the neck. He hurt me, so I asked him to stop. He stopped and then grabbed my arm, biting me again.

I looked into my arm, and I saw the marks of his teeth (apparently, he didn't break my skin). However, there was blood around the bite.

I don't know where that blood came from. My neck wasn't bleeding, and neither was my arm, so I believe that blood came from his mouth.

I am freaking out! I believe this can be considered an exposure to HIV. I don't know his status... I can still see the marks of his teeth on my arm (some light pink-ish lines, but still no evident signs of my skin being broken).

I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 17, so right now I am feeling terrible!

Please, help! Should I call my doctor and ask for PEP?

Zero HIV risk, no PEP needed. Move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

That was quite a fast reply. Thank you so much for that.

I believe that now I will do what you moderators hate...:

But... There was blood involved as well as skin being compromised. I am a bit confused about your statement, for it seems that there was a possibility for that blood (assuming that it was his blood) to get into my body. Doesn't this pose a risk?

I am aware that saliva might damage the virus, but I believe it doesn't happen that fast, right?

And I did some online research, and, apparently, there are cases in which people were infected through bites.

I am sorry for taking up more of your time with my anxious questions. Still, I would be very thankful if you could enlighten me in this regard.

Asked and answered already.

This case isn't an HIV risk, I read it three times before answering. In addition, I am fully aware of the four cases, they are not confirmed cases but at the time it could not be ruled as the route, from those only two are truly plausible Involving unique conditions so we understand why & how and it's significantly different to your case.

Please don't ask again as I will consider it excessive. The initial post was already excessive but I answered it to be kind but this is the limit

In brief, your adult HIV risks are:

* Condomless intercourse & a minute (theoretical) HIV risk if you give a blowjob.
* Sharing drugs rigs (Syringes)
* Blood products/ transfusions (Rare nowadays in most nations thanks to screening)

That's it.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and consider getting vaccinated against HPV, Mpox,  Hepatitis A & B.
