Tampa, Florida Ranks as # 1 vain city....

TAMPA --

Tampa has earned a new distinction this week, and it has nothing to do with the city's sunshine or sports teams.

Men's Health recently ranked the United States' most vain cities, and Tampa came out at the top of the list.

Rounding out the top five are Plano, Texas, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Dallas.  St. Petersburg just missed the top 10, coming in at 11th, while Orlando was ranked 16th.

Men's Health measured "vanity" based on consumption of things like Botox, teeth whitener, hair dye, plastic surgery and trips to the tanning salon.

But, Florida has sooooo many rednecks.  Whenever you hear a crazy story, it's a pretty good bet it came from Florida.  But, I suppose even the rednecks are getting the botox and whitening.  I went to the Florida State Fair in February, which is in Tampa.  The folks there were a tad ghetto, but I guess that isn't a representive sample.  I do remember seeing many plastic surgery offices throughout the state; however, it seemed like I saw more in Sarasota.

Well, as far as the botox,        I guess they get that done after they get in a fight, and their faces are bashed in... that's where the botox comes in.   

As far as the whitening, after they get into a fight is there anything left to whiten? 


Ed and I went up to Pasco County today, ( Port Richie) and did the indoor USA Flea market. Pasco county is totally different than Pinellas County. Talk about walking into redneckville...     We saw a guy, with a face tattooed on the back of his head.  First time we've seen anything like that.

It was a good day though.  We had to do the indoor market, because of "DEBBIE" off shore. It was on again /off again rain today.

As one born and raised in Tampa with Afro Haitian Native American with Jewish and Baptist sprinkles added to taste for fun and flavor heritage, I feel compelled to weigh in here.

Clearly none of MY people could possibly be referenced in those survey results and observations since:

>our teeth are naturally white;

>our lovely faces have character and expression; and

>our necks range in color from a sultry deep chocolate to a smooth caramel like the rest of our bodies--all characteristics of which we are exceedingly proud.

Goodness woman, what a mix. How did they ever decide what to do with your foreskin? Did they flip a coin? I've heard of all kinds of Jewmixes -- Mexijew, Jewmaican, but never Jewaitian.

Also, how do you manage Haitian voodoo with the Baptist restriction on dancing?

@Ann: Why thank you ever so kindly for your flattering words. 

@Ms. P.: I channel my father from time to time, put on his legacy voodoo headdress, gyrate on mark and chant a few incantations in dire emergencies.  Oh, that reminds reminds me.  I am due for a refitting and feather refresh.
