I am enjoying a delicious Red Stripe right now... and whilst it is not one of my favorites, it's up there.

What are yours?

Mine are as follows.

Anchor Steam
Stella Artois
La Fin du Monde (and at 9% booze content... it really is... mes amis Quebecois really know how to make an amazing beer)
Boddington's Pub Ale

And... "Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!"

Not so much because PBR tastes good, but because it's a Richmond thing.

So... what are your favorite beers? Don't be shy... the brilliant thing about beer is that there are thousands out there, and a lot of them are very delicious and all of them are intoxicating.

Plus beer doesn't have the snoot factor associated with wine.

I love Negra Modelos, Tecate, Corona, Hefeweissen (any brand), St. Pauli Girl, Saporo, Ashahi, Tsingtao....

I like for foreign anything.

(Although the micro breweries stuff is also delicious. )

Too bad I can't enjoy it like I used to.

I wash back Miller lite by the gallon ( 12 pack is a gallon and then some... theres an eye opener for ya) but its mainly because it really is less filling and the low alcohol makes it possible to maintain an even buzz without windingup in a pool of puke..

For pure beer drinking pleasure, I really like Sam Adams Lager, but I have a real weakness for their Octoberfest and Winter Lager. sadly available only a few months a year. I went through a phase where I thought that 'Double Bock ' beers were just the best shit on the Earth, and I even tried to like
'Triple Bock' when it came out. Gimme a winter Lager and Im a happy Camper.

* yes, like all Texas boys, I went through the inevitable 'ShinerBock phase", but after I hammered down ten of them during a Dead Horse concert ( all 3 songs ) and subsequently spraying it all over a West Gray St. intersection in Houston, I havent touched the stuff.

Im still gonna get ripped on some PBR, just to show solidarity with Benj. Besides, Ive been dieing to use that line since I saw Blue Velvet, Dennis Hopper is a God.

Not to go off topic, but we once made a large point out of doing Large Rails and then watching a certain scene in Pulp Fiction....over and over and over.

Absolute best is my "Rootin' Tootin' Rasputin Imperial Stout". ( I really need to make another 10 gallon batch of that.) I've also made some nice Irish Stouts from kits. For commercial stuff, Chimay Ale (the red label one). Dogfishhead's Midas Touch.
Really in to stouts and porters. Can't take any of the slightly beer flavored "light beers".

I'm a fan of anything Sam Adams. It's the best American beer period.

When I lived in NYC, I grew to enjoy Rolling Rock, it's a good cheap beer. And when I lived in Paris, friends knew to bring Pelforth Blonde. It made me very happy

Anyone remember Carling Black Label? It was the PBR of a certain time and place.

When I worked at the Cell Block in Chicago the manager started stocking the bar with the most tasty selection of beers. Wonderful selection of beers domestic and foreign. My favorite ended up being Samuel Adams. There are so many tasty beers..mostly foreign in origin.

P.S. Just read post again. My dad use to drink Schlitz. Had not thought of that brew for years. Schlitz was my first ever beer. Falstaff is another oldie.
It's a fact that some drink Pabst which is a "green", horrid, hangover-inducing beer. My brother use to stock his fridge with it. I would go visit him and we'd pack an igloo, hookup the boat, and go boating & fishing all day in the Atchafalaya Basin swamps. Fun memories; horrid hangovers.

I'm impressed by you named Boddingtons that's Manchester's finest! The old Boddingtons factory in Manchester was turned into a huge warehouse party venue recently there was quite a few lost nights in that place. Stella Artois is evil there is something dodgy in that drink i'm sure of it! Personally I like Becks and Tiger for beer.

Many pardons... I meant to say Gene-sewer. Honestly, it was one of my first growing up in the backwoods of central PA. YUCK! Oddly enough I still like beer. Only brands I found to be just as bad were Schlitz and Stroh's. The irony being that one company bought the other. The way I see it twice nothing is still nothing. Honestly these brands were WAAAAY worse than Kaletra for giving me the runs.

You can drink a lot of them and not black out.
It supports my region's economy.
It's cheap, espcially at all you can drink Beer Bust and Friday 3-4-1.
It keeps you hydrated because it's so watery.
Great taste, less filling.

Need I say more? The perfect beer.

Microbrews for me....my favorite botted beer is Hop Devil, which is made by Victory Brewing in Pennsylvania.

My favorite beer of all is the IPA they make in the brew pub a mile from my house. A pint of it is like a meal.

When I drink, I usually am not looking for good taste...primarily a buzz. If it's beer...anything will do after the first two go down within five minutes of each other.

Even as a budding alcoholic I never cared for the taste of beer, at least not the beer typical for American lower middle class households like mine, in which PBR was a favored brand. I occasionally enjoyed a sip of beer while eating boiled seafood like shrimp and crabs but that was it.

As a raging alcoholic I began drinking Corona followed by Jack Daniels because Corona tastes more like a soft drink and if I drank straight Jack I'd be totally shitfaced within 3 hours. By diluting my whiskey intake with beer it took 4 hours to get completely blotto. I haven't had a beer in at least 15 years.
