Title: Is Aids belongs to STDs???
Post by: worried333 on September 14, 2006, 05:39:24 am
i renew my account because my previous account is longer valid. I have a question here about the risk from non-sexual exposure. How to differentiate the risk between getting a cut/ poked by needle and anal sex. I just wondering- Isn't the wound from getting a cut and sore during anal sex is the same( how deep is the cut caused by anal sex)? Assuming same amount of blood or semen get into the wound, why the risk from getting a cut is zero? If the surface of a needle contain little blood(still fresh) on the tip, how is the risk? I will expect people telling me, the Aids virus become inactive outside the human body, but this answer is never convincing- so exactly how long? Or, people saying the skin is a good barrier and so the risk is zero. But , in this case, the needle with little blood poked into the bloodstream...I know the Aids is consider STDs but, think again, is it still STDs when still many people out there are unknown of their status. experts, please give me your explantion but pardon my ignorance- Life will be so much better if diseases never exist.

i know a native english speaker, so excuse my english- So please try to understand my sentence. Thanks all !

Have you had an exposure to HIV or are you just asking a theoretical question? We're always interested in specific concerns here about a specific possible exposure, and not general speculation about possible risks.

As far as risks in general you should read the lesson on this site about HIV transmission. There's a link to it in the first thread in this section. By reading that you should find answers to your questions.

i had been to a local shop and, at there, i tested on some earings. Not until i have reached home, then i realized how stupid i was, to take the risk for testing this earings. I am afraid that some people(with the disease) might wear it before me not long ago. If this happened, there would sure be some blood on the tip and , just in a couple of time, i penetrated it into my ear. So how was the risk? So i asking question like how long can the virus stay active in the environment? How deep the wound for infection to take place? The amount of blood needed? and, of course, is Aids really Stds excluding from using recreation drug.

one more question: There's sure must be wound or sore or even opening during anal sex for infection to take place. If so, how deep is the wound?

You don't get HIV from trying on ear rings. Anal sex and getting poked by a needle are two totally different things , there is no comparison. HIV is not classified as an STD, because there are other ways of contracting HIV besides sex.

Worried, you really need to read our lession about HIV transmission so that you can be clear about the real risks.

And trying on earrings is NOT one of them. HIV is a fragile virus. It is not easily transmitted. It happens in very particular ways and not through casual things like jewelry and other common events in daily life.

You are going to have to do better than that when asking a question.

Rapidrod, i always respect u because your answer is never long winded. But, this time , your answer given to me was a bit sarcastic. I do have many doubts with this deadly disease(at least for the time being), because there are many misconceptions on the web.How true all these are considered as myths.  i wish to know about the scientific evidence rather than telling me with or without any documented case.

I respect every of the moderators here. To me they are great!!!

Is this not what you said? How can we respond, if we don't know what you are talking about? Antibodies when or where? My answer to you wasn't sarcastic at all.

Oh Sorry, i think i made a mistake. okay, i do know that antibodies can be found in the mouth since oral-quick is used to test for antibodies. So my question here is: With the present of antibodies in the mouth, what symptoms will occur. If there is any, how and what does it look like. Is it yeast infection? (oral thrud) Does this only happen at the last stage or whether is it a indication(for some people only)

i will ask only question im confused about and i will try not to repeat the question asked. Thanks anyone offering me helps

You have been told nicely to read the lessons. If you had read the lessons like you were advised, you would not be here asking those questions. There are NO symptoms that are specific to HIV.

No, normal testing does not include HIV testing. If you were given an HIV test you would have known. You must sign a form to have the HIV test done.

Last and final question , i hope. Despite my non-risky exposure i plucked up my courage and went for a test. It went back negative. It was a great relief for me. However, the testing site i went was a clinic in singapore. My blood was taken and was taken to a laboratory else where, i dunt know.(Not in the clinic but in somewhere in singapore). So will the test be reliable after prolong time(maybe an hour). One more thing, how long was the test of blood usually takes?( is 5 minutes enough). As I was given back the test quite fast.

can the experts here answer this question asap, urgent!!! thank. ( i am afraid my doctor doubts my risk and just makes up a result). If possible, answer the part: How long can we get the result. For, let's say, urgent cases.

worried,

Your test was reliable. You are hiv negative.

You didn't have a risk in the first place. Trying on earrings is not a risk for hiv infection.

worried,

How long is a piece of string? The time it takes for a lab to process tests will vary from lab to lab and day to day within a lab. Rest assured that they want to make sure the results are accurate just as much as you do. They don't want to miss out on diagnosing someone who has become infected.

But the bottom line here is that you did NOT have a risk of hiv infection. No way, no how.

If you cannot let go of this hiv anxiety, you would be wise to get some support for yourself in the form of face-to-face counseling. We cannot do that for you here.

You have tested negative over a no risk incident. You ARE hiv negative. It's time for you to move on as there is nothing more we can do for you here.
