Does anybody here use Aquamid to fill the facial wasting?
« on: August 07, 2008, 11:16:50 pm »
A new study of Aquamid® in the management of HIV related lipoatrophy has been published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, Feb. 2008*. Aquamid hydrogel provided stable correction over time, which resulted in lasting improvement of self-esteem and quality of life of the patients treated

In Taiwan, there are only two legal filling substance available: urineacid and aquamid.   I am now suffernig some facial wasting, and would like to ask if someone here has used aquamid as a filler.  Please kindly share your experience upon using it.   Thanks a lot.

I've never heard of Aquamid and will be very interested in reading poster responses.  I hope others can respond with information to your request.
I received Sculptra treatments last fall and and am very satisfied with the results thus far.

I am a doctor, and i have been using  for many years Aquamid for the correction of severe nasolabial folds and mid and lower facial volume loss in patients with HIV /lipodystrophy. The aesthetic results are espectacular, it is a non biodegradable product, no side efects and provides an inmediate and sale  aesthetic efect.

I do only recommend to be sure your phisician is very well trained in Aquamid injection technique. The product is the best in the fillers market.

I asked someone who knows a great deal about lipoatrophy/lipodystrophy and treatment options and this is what he responded:

"Aquamid is an acrylamide...a lot like BioAlcamid. It leaves a 'pocket' in the defficit area.  Russians and chinese have seen infections much like we have seen with BioAlcamid."

If it's similar to BioAlcamid, I would have serious reservations about using it.

Well stated, Inchlingblue. Stay away from acrylamides. While BioAlcamid and Aquamid does fill large voids for less money........troubles with these products in as few as 5 years. And, it's painful, for sure.
