Sociopathic kids?
« on: October 25, 2013, 06:21:52 pm »
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/25/400-rounds-of-ammo-gay_n_4160294.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

Vancouver police school resource officers detained the 11-year-old at 9 a.m. on Oct. 23 at Frontier Middle School after his mother called school administrators to alert them that her son might have taken knives to school, Fox's KPTV reports. Officers said they found a .22-caliber handgun in the boy's front pants pocket.

Authorities found a gun and 400 rounds of ammunition, as well as knives. Frontier Middle School and the adjacent Pioneer Elementary School were put on lockdown for two hours.

The boy, whose name has been withheld, later told school officials "a 'voice in his head' was telling him to kill" a classmate who had called his friend gay, according to a probable cause document obtained by NBC. He "stated a voice told him killing [another student] was a good idea; however he planned to just shoot [the student] in the arm and then shoot himself in the head."

It is not clear if the child who was supposedly being bullied is gay or not.

___________

Several times today, I was mulling over the 14 y.o. accused murderer Philip Chism.  By all accounts, a normal kid.  Who seems to have snapped and brutally assaulted and murdered his teacher.  Dumped the body with NO CARE to disguise the crime, and probably knowing the whole school was under video surveillance.  Used her ATM card (how did he get the pin?) to go to Wendy's and then Blue Jasmine (??? WTF ?)....

____________

And the shooting spree by a 12yo Jose Reyes -- teacher dead, wounded kids, suicide. The kid seemed to have been motivated to revenge some sort of bullying.  All reports to a "nice kid".

Police have released little information about the shooting. They say he got the semi-automatic handgun from his residence, but they have no motive and don't know if Reyes was targeting victims or firing randomly. They didn't release his name until Thursday under pressure from the public and local media.

School officials confirmed the investigation includes a review of an anti-bullying video that some students saw earlier this month that includes a dramatization of a child taking a gun on a school bus to scare aggressors.

Is it because we have so much media that we hear about such crimes.  Are there actually more of such crimes, nowadays?

I can't get my head around what's happening...   Are these sociopathic kids?  They have to be sociopaths, right?  I don't want to think its some sort of "generation without a moral compass.."    These few must be real nut cases, right??

Hmmmmmmm

If I understand correctly if you have auditory hallucinations you are schizophrenic.

Sociopaths are aware that what they are doing is wrong by society's standards but don't feel the rules apply to them. In general they are very good at covering their tracks.

Then there are whack jobs.

When someone's accused of a serious crime and start saying they "hear voices," one has to always wonder if the person is fabricating to avoid lengthy prison sentences, or the death penalty.  So, about the kid "hearing voices," he definitely needs a good psychiatric evaluation to see if he's malingering.

Definite serious issues going on.  Another concern is, all these continual shootings, yet the NRA continues it's stance on not having tighter gun control.  And, these parents need to keep their guns locked up, with the key somewhere the kid wouldn't find it.

Ah that's a good point about sociopaths.   I used the term casually without thinking about the real criteria...

I wonder if kids can be "sociopaths".   As for the schizophrenia, my understanding is that it comes on in the late teens..  The kid above who heard voices and went to school armed to the hilt, is 11...

As for gun control, yes BT65, i agree.

But 14 yo accused murderer Chism did it with a box cutter!

I can't figure out how kids can walk through daily life and be perceived by everyone as "normal" and yet be such maniacs...   I know we don't walk around looking and judging and wondering if the adults around us are maniacs.  But there are a lot of adults watching and observing kids, with interest...  Teachers, parents, neighbours...  Its a bit bewildering how these 3 above can be whacky and nobody noticed.   I supposed someone noticed, perhaps, but the observations something was off with them, hasn't come out to the public through the media, yet...

I know its nothing new, Columbine comes to mind of course...

Actually, antisocial personality disorder is now the preferred term to "sociopath."  Doing what one wants without believing the rules apply to one, no regard for another person, no empathy, impulsive behavior, disregard for safety of others etc.

As I said, these kids need comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.  The media sensationalizing violence perpetuated by kids doesn't help.

One off the stupid things about personality disorder is the catch 22 off some phys say its not a psy disorder therefore they don,t treat it.

I do think that these sad extreme events are now open to the world , that the Gun culture off the US gives a spin , but Switzerland is for differant reasons is also tooled up to the teeth.
