Title: Someday I will be loved, warts and all..
Post by: YellowFever on April 10, 2014, 04:44:43 pm
But not today. Today, I only have rectal warts. Yippee. And its my first time so I've just contracted HPV I suppose. But what I couldn't get an answer from my health advisor was what my risk of getting anal cancer is given that I'm HIV+. I know 'wart' HPV strains are different from ass cancer HPV strains, but will they more easily mutate from one to another in cases like me? Does having one mean that I have/don't have the other?

Wart strains of hpv have a low risk of causing cancer however, if you have one strain you probably have more.  They travel in groups.

You need to have an anal pap and high resolution anoscopy to let you know if you have pre cancerous dysplasia.
