Title: Isentress timing question
Post by: PozBrian on February 09, 2012, 06:38:57 pm
Started Isentress and Truvada yesterday.  I know isentress is one pill twice a day, but how close to every 12 hours does that mean?  Morning dose is going to be pretty much right at 7am.  Do I need to take the second dose at 7pm or is waiting until bedtime about 10 pm ok?

Also for those on this mix, when do you take the Truvada, am or pm?

if its like the two a day pill I'm on we have a window of approx 2 hours either way. so for instance i take my morning pill usually at 7:15 so i can take it anywhere from 5:15-9:15. same for the night time pill that i take at 6:30. ---4:30-8:30

The truvada keeps switching.  I will forget it in the morning, or sleep late, and then its the afternoon. Then I'll try to shift it up or down to evening or morning again.  My doc said as long as I'm getting the three pills in me every day, the precise timing wasn't important. Thats just my doc.
I cant say I notice any difference if the truvada is morning or evening.

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to keep the truvada at night, same as the equivalent portion of the atripla. And I'm going to try to keep to a 12 hr schedule for the Isentress on the theory that it will keep the levels more consistant.

I wasn't always consistent with my atripla timing and didn't have any issues so I figured that this would be the same.

Can't believe I forgot to ask my Dr this yesteday.

I take Isentress, Intellence and Truvada.  I played around with the schedules until I found what works for me.  I take the Truvada in the morning so that I'm most consistent with the schedule.  I also take mine on am empty stomach with no complications.  Other insist they have to eat along with it.  For me, a pot of coffee and a handfull of pills.

Once or twice per month I forego the evening dose all together just for convenience when I want to enjoy a late evening out without worrying about the occasional "side affect".  My doctor is OK with this as long as I don't go more than 24 hours.  He explained the half life stuff and all that, but all I heard was that it's OK to do it on occasion.

I take the Truvada and Isentres in the morning, and the second Isentress in the evening.

I usually take the evening does sometime between 7 and 9 p.m., more or less.

So far, so good.

It doesn't matter if I eat or not, so like Wolfie, I take the a.m. meds with my coffee.

Sounds like I started pretty much the same schedule as everyone. I didn't get any specific instructions about taking with food. Honestly it didn't really bother me that much with the Atripla except when giving me dreams if I ate to close to taking it. I'm just going to go with it for now and hope the mood problems the Atripla was giving me clear up.
