here I am on the worry train again

Hello everyone,

Firstly thnx for all people who keeps the site up and running. Unfortunately when I google aids in my own language the stuff that I find are usually very inadequate.

2 years ago I had an experience that made me really worried and tested negative 4 months later. After that I vowed to educate myself better and did very best of me to be on the safe side. Unfortunately 2 weeks ago I had an experience which puts me on worry train again. And here comes my story.

I had sex with a flight attendant 2 weeks ago. We had anal sex, he used condom and he did not cum while he was in me. I feel better if my partner do not cum into me even if he had put on condom. But stupidly this time I let him to masturbate over my face and before I know, he shot his load all over my face.

I tried not to open my eyes but while I was cleaning my face, I just opened it instinctly and I remember my vision was a little bit blurry, due to the sperm. So I guess this means sperm has contacted my eye. I know because of the mucous membrane contact of eye with sperm may cause a risk. I don't know what are the odds though I heard there are couple of documented cases. Usually when sperm hit eyes, it stings and eyes get red, but in my case there were no pain. Maybe it's so stupid to think but I had contact lenses on my eyes, I wonder if it's possible for contact lenses to shelter the eye from sperm.

The thing also worries me is my eye did not hurt because of sperm but my face did. When the guy came over my face I felt a little burnt on my skin. I was shaved almost like 8 hours ago, but I don't know if I had small cuts.  I don't know if my face hurt because I had open cuts in my face from shaving.

I maybe would not get worried if I would not get sick after having sex with this guy. After, 84 hours (3,5 days) I woke up feeling very sick. I had mild fever and feeling tired and have sore throat. This is the 8th day I still feel sick. I have a little ulcer on my throat (though I have to say I have a slight history of mouth and throat ulcers unrelated to HIV)

The guy I had sex with told me that, he had his last test three years ago but it was negative. And he had no symptoms that suggests that he got infected in the meanwhile. But I know that he is sleeping with surprisingly high number of people and I know from my other conversations with him that he is sometimes not careful as he has to be, as in the case of cumming over my face.

I will get tested in 25th day and in 3 and 6 months.

But I'd appreciate if you can help me about assessing the my risk.

Firstly I know the "flu like" early symptoms are not reliable at all but is it possible to have these symptoms in the first 3 and 4 days? I am worried to death because of these symptoms.

I know the sperm in the eye is a low risk but is there any figure that numeratically demonstrates the figure like  %1 ? (Yes I am a guy who is better with numbers

Do you think it's possible to get infected from face, after a careless shave ?

If you would have gotten cum in your eye, you wouldn't be here questioning it. It stings like hell and if you have contacts in it gets under your contacts and the first thing you would do is jerk them out to rinse out your eyes. There is no quess work when you get cum in your eye/eyes.

You're all over the place with your anxiety, so let's simplify matters a bit.

Good that the guy used a condom. Way to go! They provide very effective protection against HIV.

Now you're pasting a number of details together to come up with HIV jitters, details which have no basis in HIV science. Beard rash or brusing on your face is not a risk for HIV, even if you were splatted with the guy's semen. The risk in terms of getting it in your eye and under the contact lense is more theoretical than actual. As Rod has pointed out, if you had semen in your eye you would know it because it does burn.

So what this comes down to is a  bunch of what ifs. I don't even think testing is necessary in relation to this incident. But if you decide to test, you ought to know by now that 13 weeks is sufficient for a reliable result. So you can forget about torturing yourself while waiting out to 6 months.

I don't see this as an HIV situation. If you haven't read it recently, I recommend you read the lesson on transmission. The link to it is in the Welcome thread that opens this section. The basics that you need and do not need to be concerned about are there.

Get off of that worry train. It's a self indulgence you can do without. And yes, being on it is a matter of choice on your part. No kidding.

I just want to say thank you for your swift and responsible replies.
To read your posts somehow relieved me and Andy I gave a thought on your comment. I see your point.
I will have the test anyway in week 13 but I also decided to get off of the worry train in the mean.

I checked out the all site and forums.
It's such a good work. I really admire and respect everyone who puts efforts on this site.
