cd4 170
viral load : 1'450'000
2 months and i'm already in conclamated aids.
started up today with atripla...

Hi there,
I'm very sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but welcome to the site. Having only been diagnosed a little over a year ago, I've found this site incredibly helpful both in terms of the wealth of information the other members have to share, but also the huge amount of support I've received.
And I hope you are doing well on the Atripla. I've been on it myself for going on 8 months now, and it's a great medication. My VL dropped like a rock, and it was great to see this this set of drugs beat the sh*t outta the virus. :D

Welcome to the forums. Atripla is an excellent pill. I was dxd with a CD4 of 8 and VL of 500,000. Now I am undetectable and CD4 is 280-330 range. Hang in there ;)

Hey path, welcome to the Forums. Glad you found us, sorry you had to.
Atripla works VERY well, you should see marked improvements in the months to come. You will be just fine. Sorry about your run of bad luck but keep your chin up.

well this does NOT count a real AIDS. you say it because of your CD4 number but you are on ACUTE RETROVIRAL SYNDROME. my cd4 probably was too low on the first month, probably less than 200. but my first count was like a little more than 250 because i did that test quite late. and now i started to get better because i am on the 2nd stage which is called LATENT HIV INFECTION. well it is not a secret to me, but virus is hiding inside my immune system. waiting for the day for the real AIDS would come to me like 2-15 years if i don't get meds.
so even it is blood transfusion, i think it is not a real terminal stage of HIV infection which we call AIDS but you do have a quite a BIG acute retroviral syndrome, so lots of HIV kill all your CD4 cells, but they will stop eventually and get latent. (i haven't read an article about anyone turning AIDS just 2 months after they are infected) well but because your CD4 count starts low, it would be better if you start meds right now. you will feel better much more sooner and you CD4 count will go up pretty fast.
so don't worry, you are not gonna die from terminal illness just that fast.

well, hope everything goes fine. I just regret not to have done the PEP right after the transfusion...
