Title: oral sex with sex worker - possible blood involved
Post by: olecram909 on April 27, 2017, 05:08:53 pm
Hi, POZ!

Yesterday I had sex with a sex worker. It was lunch time and I met her for a quick blowjob (without condom). Everything was going fine until she suddenly stopped because she felt a funny taste. When we looked, it seems there was a bit of blood around the head of the penis. She immediatly thought she had bitten or scratched it with her teeth, but after we cleaned him with a towel no more blood appeared - and I also didn't felt anything, which I probably would if I had a cut in the head of the penis. I asked if it was her blood and she said "definetly not! I keep my mouth healthy all the time". Just so be safe we put a condom on and she finished the blowjob with the condom. No blood stains appeared inside or outside the condom.

At night I felt vert nervous and couldn't sleep. Before making an appointment with my doctor I decided to call her and ask about her exams. She recognized me and said she figured out what the blood was: red lipstick + saliva. She saw that her lipstick was leaving red stains in her wet towels and wet napkins. She also said her exams are perfect because she lives of sex and can't afford to be careless - only makes sex (vaginal and anal) with protection. She said her last exams were last month and everything was perfect.

So, to summarize I guess we have 4 possible cenarios of what happened, and each cenario associated with a probability of occurrece and a probability of transmission:

Cenario #1: There was blood involved and it was my blood AND her blood
Prob. of occurrence: negligible
Prob. of transmission: ?

Cenario #2: There was blood involved and it was only my blod
Prob. of occurrence: very low (I didnt felt any pain, the blood ceased to exist after the first whipping and I don't see any scar, scratch or injury in the head of my penis)
Prob. of transmission: ?

Cenario #3: There was a blood involved and it was only her blood
Prob. of occurrence: low (I don't put very low because I cant guarantee for her mouth's health)
Prob. of transmission: ?

Cenario #4: There was no blood involved, just a mixture of red lipstick with saliva
Prob. of occurrence: medium (I really don't know how a mixture of red lipstick and a saliva/water looks like,,, if it looks like blood, than it's a high probablity)
Prob. of transmission: ?

So, there you go. I need you help to determine the 'Prob. of transmission' of each case and help me decide which cenario is more probable. This "sherlock holmes" investigation is going to help me decide whether or not I should start a PEP treatment (i'm still inside the 72 hour mark).

Please, help me make the best decision!

Receiving unprotected oral sex is not a risk for HIV infection, but could be a risk for other STD's/STI's.

To cut to the chase, the probability of HIV infection for any and all of your listed scenarios is, essentially, indistinguishable from "zero."

You do not need PEP for this incident, in my opinion, but the decision is yours in consultation with your healthcare provider.
