Must be results day!!!

CD4 DROPPED to 398
% DROPPED to 26 NOT ON MEDS YET
VL JUMPED to 29000

Not the best news. I had a 3 month break, finally, and now I'm back for more labs in 6 weeks instead.

Others;
Chol down a little to 226
tri up to 284 FASTING LABS ( tho never had below 200 ch.)
HDL(good) up to 37
LDL (bad) down to 132

Obviously, I was hoping to be in the same ball park as last time, if not better. I know there isn't much I can do about the HIV #'s, but I need to get my ass working on the cholesterol stuff.

Hopefully these numbers are just a blip and don't represent the beginning of a trend and your next labs will be better.

Kimberlly- I can hope, but not gonna hold my breath. My mind is wondering of the Sept labs weren't a blip!

Well percentage wise, you are still in the normal percentage range ro cd4 and your viral load is not horrible. Plus after the new year you are going to live the life of a celibate monk and do nothing but pray, and eat nutricious food. And you will get plenty of exercise growing your own organic food. Right?

Not sure how my organic food will fare in the winter out there, but damn the body I'll get from digging in that hard dirt !! All the sweat and sex, #'s will surely rise! ( if nothing else

Hey,
it's okay to be blipped!...well, you know, it happens every know and then.....but it happens......eat right (with the holidays, I know it's hard), take vitamins and exercise....and, personally....the best kind of exercise I highly recommend doesn't involve weights!...and it also burns lots of calories!!

Paul,

Don't get down about the nu.... You know already! Before I started meds my numbers slowly did the slide.. Just stay with the doc visits and monitoring them. I went 6 months without going after my last set was 500 and change and WHAM! a good ole drop to 137. I would work on that cholesterol though. I have been lucky so far pre med my cholesterol was 119. I'll probably watch that sucker rise now!

Iit is unfortunate that your CD4's had made a drop. Your percentage looks good though. You may want to keep an eye on your VL as well. Take care of YOU!

How about a new years resolution for the forum, that when we post lab results, we remind everyone whether or not we are on meds and if so for how long, etc.? In Paul's case, I remembered that he was not on meds, so could look at the numbers that way. Paul, if you can, see what the pattern seems to be (and remind yourself that you are not on meds, so these are numbers without any help from meds). As for the choles. and such, are you having lab work done after eating? Again, my results were completely different by fasting and, in my case, not taking meds. (in your case n/a). Win

I do agree with the others. You will want to establish a trend with what is going on with your Labs. There will be some fluctuations as well. Take care of YOU!

Well don't worry too much about the numbers... you'll know when its time to start meds... I did everything in the beginning... herbs, holistic, meditation, exercise... you name it I tried it... I'm presently taking Atripila... cd4 1100-1200 viral load undetectable.. so you never know... stress is the biggest factor... reduce the stress and take everyday as a blessing... oh by the way that's a great eye in the pic...looks familiar... Islip NY on longisland I visited my dads family every year... if I only knew Fire Island was in the vacinity I would have enjoyed my visits even more... Attitude... positive is the best medicine. Sorry you didn't get the numbers you had hoped for. Try not to worry though and just keep an eye on them. Pre-meds, mine would bounce around like crazy, so much so, that I was nearly always going back every 6 weeks for more blood tests.

As others have said, stress really takes its toll. I had a vl of over 600,000 at one point, but like you my cd4's were still good. I was stressed but decided to go travelling for 3 months, my doc suggesting that when I returned meds would be on the agenda. I caught up with friends in the UK, travelled round Europe a bit, and then finished with a month lying on the beach at Playa del Carmen, Mexico. When I got back my vl was undetectable, without meds. It gradually climbed back up again, but it was another 16 months before they got out of control again and I started meds.

Weren't you considering a vacation in January to escape the winter. Go for it, I say. And pamper yourself. Stay in a flash hotel or something and relax. You deserve it.

Though they could have been better your results are by no means bad especially for a guy not on meds!! Your cholesterol is an obvious condition to get under better control if that's possible. For no reason I imagine your diet and "lifestyle" (I hate that word but am too braindead to summon a synonym) to be healthy so wonder what the high numbers are from... After I contracted hep B my cholesterol went on a wild ride but has been OK for the last couple of years. Eat a lot of oatmeal.

I got my lab results back Thursday and my CD4 dropped to 220 but the percentage went up to 27% (from 329 and 19% in July) and my vl is still below 400 (my doc is too cheap to order the more sensitive test). As others have said to you, it's probably a blip for you and in my case too... I hope!

Good luck on the next tests! Get those fatty numbers down!

I am sorry you did not get the numbers you wanted, but remember they are just numbers. It is the start of a new year, focus on eating better, working out, stress reduction, and not on those damn little numbers that can drive us batty.
