Study Description:
NO/AIDS Task Force and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention invite you to help with a new program for men who have sex with men (MSM) and 18 years and older called SouthPOL+.

The purpose of this study is to pilot the CDC developed Adaptation guidance to conduct pre-implementation activities to:
1) Asses the viability of utilizing the chat rooms to provide services, referrals and to implement HIV prevention interventions,
2) Better define online social networks of seropositive MSM of color that frequent chat rooms
3) Assess impact of Katrina and Rita on these social networks and the utilization of chat rooms.
Your taking part is voluntary and will not affect any current or future services you receive from NO/AIDS Task Force. You may choose to stop or withdraw your participation in the project at any time.

Ways to Participate

1) Focus Groups: It’s an anonymous, confidential and online group discussion. The participant will receive $20 if they qualify and participate. Online focus groups will be conducted in a chat room based environment at SouthPOL+ Website. (www.southpolplus.com).

2) Key Informant Interview: It’s a one-on-one phone conversation between a participant and SouthPOL+ team member. The conversation will center on what is going on in the community with regards to the Internet and HIV/AIDS. All participants can either choose to call us at a 1-866-783-4737/504-945-4000 number or we can call them. Key informants that express an interest in participating will arrange a convenient time with staff for a telephone interview.

3) Online Survey: We are also conducting surveys to identify the risk determinants, risk behaviors, social norms and factors influencing these behaviors, describe chat room use and describe the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This is an online anonymous and confidential survey and the participant could win 1 in 5 cash prizes worth $100.

Eligibility Criteria:
Sexual Orientation: Men who have Sex with Men
Minimum age: Must be at least 18 years old
Maximum age: none
