Title: Chances of getting infected
Post by: Malasorte23 on June 26, 2006, 06:03:09 pm
Hello all,

Male, 23 years old. One week ago I visited a prostitute and had normal and oral (she gave me a blowjob) sex. I used a condom.

My problem is that on the same day when I visited her I shaved my pubic hair and the skin was irritated. However, no signs of bleeding.

Is it possible to contract HIV because of the contact between my irritated skin and her skin? (in the genital area). From what I remember her skin didn't show and signs of cuts or irritation.

Thanks!

The answer is NO. Please read the Welcome Post at the top of the forum page.

Mal,

Well done! You had protected sex and as such you don't need to worry about HIV from this encounter. People who are sexually active should have a full STD checkup at least twice a year. If it's been a while since you last had a sexual health checkup (or if you've never had one at all) you might want to consider making an appointment at your local clinic or with your doctor.

As Rod suggests you should read our Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0).

Take care,

MtD

Mal, I assume by "normal" you mean (vaginal) intercourse? If so, using a condom is exactly what is called for, whether intercourse is vaginal or anal. Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission.

So there's no cause for further concern nor for testing in relation to this incident. Receiving oral is no risk whatsover.

As has been suggested by others, please read the lesson about transmission so that you're down with the basics about the subject.

Cheers,
