Title: Worried again
Post by: loko2008 on May 11, 2007, 10:20:32 am
Hello everyone iam new to this forum and this is my first time posting sorry about my english but i will try to explain, iam a gay guy and i  NEVER HAD DONE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITHOUT A CONDOM, but in oral i dont really use a condom all the time (but i make a bunch of saliva when doing it) and last week it happened a incident while i was sucking off this guy that i dont really know very well, he didnt tell me he was about to finish and well he did cum and some of his cum fell in my mouth as soon as i noticed that i stopped sucking and spit out the few cum that i fell in my mouth and i run to the bathroom and washed very well with water and some mouth rinse, so now iam concerned about that and would like to know if is possible to get infected of hiv because of the small incident (in case this person was hiv+) i asked him if he was clean and std free and said "yes" .  I also want to point out that in the moment that incident happened i did not have any mouth problems and i remmember that i had brush my teeth like 3 hours ago before tha incident happened...any ways iam wondering if i must go and get tested and how long should i wait to go and get tested if i need to (that incident happened as 01/5/07... well thanks anyonone in advance and i wish i could hear especially from some of the wise experts that are in this forum, thank you again and hope to hear from you, take care Bye!!!

There is some anecdotal evidence of possible risk via giving a blowjob. But there is much more evidence from longterm studies of sero-discordant couples, both gay & straight, who used condoms for intercourse and no condoms for frequent mutual oral, and not a single sero-negative partner became infected.

Particularly given the details of this single incident you have described, I don't see any cause for concern about HIV transmission.

I wouldn't even think testing necessary in relation to this one although in general anyone who's sexually active ought to have a full STD panel done at least annually.

This time I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Cheers,

Hello everyone, this is my second time i do post in this forum, last time my concerned was about getting hiv from giving head and cum in the mouth incident i got very good answers that gave me peace of mind thanks again, today i have another question/concern, about 3 weeks ago i noticed that i have some kind of blister (only one)  in my upper left side lip, it was very painful i used some cold sore lip protectant and it didnt go away, so i went to my doctor and he told me that it was some kind of herpes and it was not going to go away just with a cold sore lip protectant so he gave a prescription i did take the medicine and the herpes dissapered iam hoping it doesnt come back again, the thing is that i believe that i got that herpes from the last person i gave a blowjob to and iam wondering if it was just a simple one herpes what i got from that person i sucked off or i maybe got hiv as well IAM SO WORRIED NOW and i think i going to get test but decide to share my concerned first here with you guys, also i want to add that i didnt sucked off nobody while the herpes active, (as always i remmenber that i did a bunch of saliva when i did sucked this guy and i dont recall having any cuts or mouth problems when it happened, my question is then,  did i get only a simple herpes by sucking this guy, or was i exposed to hiv as well?  please i need some answers, would like to hear from the experts, thanks in advance!!! hope to hear from you, laterz!!!!

Herpes is much more common and easily transmitted than HIV, Loco. Having one is in no way any indication of having the other.

My family has always has cold sores, they are somewhat painful and not attractive, but can be controlled with medication.

Nothing here says HIV, bud.

Loko,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

I agree with Brent about the herpes. You could have had it for quite some time without ever getting a blister, or you could have gotten it from kissing someone with a "cold sore" (what people call herpes on the lips) or maybe someone you blew had herpes. You'll never know. You'll have to speak to your doctor about future outbreaks - but it's nothing to do with hiv.

When you have a herpes outbreak, you need to keep it away from other people's lips and penises, otherwise you'll give them herpes too.

This is not an hiv situation.

Sorry you'all i should have start another thread to make it easy to follow my Bad  :( , thanks for ur answers Ann and Bucko, but i had hear that some herpes are like wounds (mine it was like a wound) and they bleed sometimes, so iam just wondering if the person i kissed or blowed had that kind of bleeding herpes and i got their blood in my mouth, isnt that a way to get hiv also like with blood in one's mouth?

Loco-

You seem to be unaware that saliva has many properties that deactivate (kills, not the correct term but easier to understand to someone who is not a Virologist) HIV. HIV infection takes place inside the body, and your lips are on the outside.

You can pass Herpes by giving a blowjob with a coldsore, but it doesn't facilitate HIV infection one bit.
