Looks like I'll have more time participate in the forums
« on: February 26, 2016, 02:01:20 pm »
I've been so busy of late that I barely have time to myself which is also a good thing as it keeps my mind free of thoughts.  Been struggling since this past Summer with all the losses I've endured.

Now it looks like I'll be home bound for a little while.  A few already know that I had another "incident".  I purchased a new desk mat because my home office chair was causing marks on my new floors.  Wednesday night as I was zooming around I, I walked over this mat to reach my fax machine.

The whole damn thing went sliding which sent me flying.  I promptly landed on my office chair right on my ribs.  YEP, big ole bruise and a fractured rib.  With all my experience with broken bones, ribs are always the worst.

Ouch.  Well, bones are stronger when they heal, so you should be the Man of Steel soon.  Hope you're not in much pain.

OH YEAH, just finishing up my 2nd glass now.  :)  Thank goodness I still have pain pills from my multiple, previous injuries.  I've already taken more for the pain with this fracture than I did with my f'd up leg.

On a totally different note, I saw the electric company out on the pole.  Since there are only 3 homes on my street, I decided to find out what he was doing.  It turns out that the squatters in my property next door decided to illegally hook their electric back up after it was shut off for non pay  This time, they disconnected it at the main line.

I've already been to court once with these fools and the judge threw the case out for improper grounds.  I was pissed.  Owned this property since October and haven't even got to see the inside yet.  This might prompt them to move on more quickly as they have been moving stuff out of late.

Wine and pain pills? Dude, moderation on both when combined, please. You're not some washed-up diva in some B-movie soap opera.  :P

Squatters: Get the water and sewer shut off also. Have the city condemn the property. Get them to do the job of evicting the squatters for you. It's fast and you're not wasting time getting court orders.

Be ready when they're escorted off the property to change the locks and secure the property.

While the city/county is going through with the eviction process, you can be working with them to ready the property for lifting the condemning of it. As long as you push the idea that it benefits both them and you to get the property secured and habitable, you'll succeed more quickly than if you continue to pursue the squatters through the court. Bonus: if the city/county evicts them, they may face criminal charges.

If only landlord/tenant laws made it this easy.   In Ohio, the property owner can be fined for not providing basic services (water and sewer) to anyone whom claims to be a tenant.  If I push for it to be condemned, I would again be fined since I'm the property owner.

You MUST have a court order to evict anyone.  I purchased this property at a Sheriff's auction and it's still my responsibility to evict them.

The pain got worse this afternoon and I knew my lungs were filing with fluid.  Decided to go to urgent care just to be sure of what was going on.  Was given a script for Tramadol.  Never heard of that before.

Sitting here for a while wondering why the pain was lower in my belly instead of the rib cage.  DUH, just remembered previous lessons learned.  Been popping them for 3 days now without much food which is why I'm not having BMs.  I should be a damn expert on this topic by now...but oh well.

If I were you I would get some stool softeners pronto … the last thing you want to do with a broken rib is strain. If you are not used to opiates they can stop you up and its not pleasant if you let it go too far. Voice of experience here.

Broken ribs, ughh...  About three months ago I had the joy of having the Heimlich maneuver done on me.  The guy saved my life but broke two ribs in the process.  Having suffered through many broken bones in my youth, ribs have got to be the most frustrating.

It's going to be a while till you can turn over in bed, or even get out of it without feeling pain for that matter.  Tramadol is super nice..... I can still recall the joy it brought me after knee surgery many years ago.

This is my 3rd time (imagine that) having a broken rib.  Fortunately, this time it is the L7 rib and isn't quite as painful since it's a floating rib.

I'm even attempting to return to work this afternoon.

I purchased this stupid mat at Staples and they indicate I can only return it if I have the original box.  Really????  They're selling a dangerous product and won't allow me to return it!  Thinking of contacting the consumer protection agency as I can't be the first person having an issue with this mat.

Good to hear the pain is getting better and tolerable.
I cant tolerate opiates at all . I took them for only two days after my last knee replacement , I puked almost as soon as they hit my stomach.
And man was I constipated !
I now know where that expression " I just shit a brick came from " ... lol

Its pretty easy in GA to get rid of these types of people, especially since you purchased the property.

Do not under any circumstances accept any money from them.
