remedy for fatigue
« on: May 24, 2009, 02:47:15 pm »
Hi everyone!

I have been feeling very exhausted lately. Like I need a nap even though I just woke up from a previous nap or just from regular sleep. My energy seems to be down lately. Ive tried changing my eating habits and exercising more but the fatigue is not going away. I don't know if its the virus (my VL is undetectable at my last doctor visit) or the meds (truvada, lexiva, norvir). I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a good remedy (preferably natural) for fatigue. I read that bee pollen is good but I would like a second or third or fourth opinion.

Thanks :-)

Have you had your testosterone levels checked? I'm finally on some decent treatment, so I am hoping to see a change in my own energy.

There are several things that can lead to fatigue such as what you're describing. As a2z mentioned, it's a good idea to know whether or not your testosterone level is within normal ranges.

Another condition that can lead to fatigue is low levels of thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism), it's a good idea to get your thyroid levels checked. People who have HIV have a higher chance than those who are negative of having hypothyroidism.

If by any chance it's either of the things above, there are pretty easy ways to get you back to normal levels with hormone replacement.

Testosterone? Thyroid? No I've never had those checked. I'll be sure to ask my doctor next time I see him. In the meantime I'll take an extra espresso or red bull!

Thank you.

Hi

There's  a section in the lessons on fatigue too.  It has a page of questions to think about and then go over with your doctor.

Hey Popqueer,

Here is a helpful resource - http://positivelife.org.au/factsheet/2

The Protease Inhibitors can be associated with fatigue - with Lexiva being one of the main culprits.  You could discuss alternatives with your doc.

take care
