Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

HIV Testing at 75 Days

Hello everybody

Her my problem. I had a sex encounter with a CSW in Asia. After about 30 seconds i realised that the condom was broken (Durex), immediatly i took my penis out, so i was runnig to the shower were i cleaned everything very well. After about 3.5 weeks i have made an hiv Duo Test (P24/Antibody) in Switzerland, wich was negativ. By 75 days i have made a nother HIV Test 3-th Generation fingerprik rapid test. The girl told me she never had sex without condom and she had made an hiv test just 2 months before my accident and her test was negativ.... But anyway i'am still scared.

Please give me advice.

Hi,

Given everything you have reported both in terms of potential risk and test results, I would say you're going to come out of this ok. The condom protected you until it broke and the potential exposure was very, very brief.

HIV is not an easy virus to transmit. It's significantly harder to accomplish from female to male. This was single brief incident. The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure.

Putting all of that together signals to me that you are almost in the clear. I would still for certainty and your peace of mind re-test at 13 weeks and collect what I expect will be another and final negative result.

I definitely expect you to come out of this ok.

Thanks for your reaply. Oh my god, i really hope, that i'am coming out without a positiv result. I really hoped my test at 10 weeks and 5 days will be enought. Just taken before my hollidays... So i really need to go again when i'am back.

But how does it work with these p24 test. Should it be not positiv at the 1th p24/Antigen testing. If there wouldent be p24 there should be antigen? Or when it was the second window period, it would be + at my 10.5 week test.

What ever, the best would be if i would go again to these test. But the thing is, i feel very good and i dont want to "break" my life with a bad result....

Mario, lay off of the handwringing, please. I've already told you that I expect you to test negative at 13 weeks. As far as I am concerned it's a slam dunk, but needs to be done just to make it official that you're negative.
