Need info on Seattle Wash
« on: January 19, 2007, 01:20:36 pm »
I am trying to plan a vacation for this summer and think I would really like to visit Seattle. I plan to take the train from Chicago to Seattle and then spend 3-4 nights in Seattle.  Was interested in places to stay that are convenient to downtown as well as gay life and any special events that take place over the summer.  If anyone is from that area or has vacationed there and could pass on some info that would be great.
Thanks,
Woods

I lived there most of my life.  Everything on Capitol Hill is close to downtown.   You can walk between the two if you don't mind climbing hills.  Most hotels are downtown.  Cabs are easy.
Things to do:  Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market, Experience Music Project, Underground Tour, Discovery Park.
If you have a car:  Mt St Helens, Deception Pass, Snoqualmie Pass
The gay life in Seattle centers around the Cuff, Madison Street Pub, Neighbors.  You can walk from bar to bar... the farthest two are maybe fifteen blocks apart.
I miss it.

I usually stay at the Roosevelt or Paramount Hotels. Both of them are in downtown but just blocks to the gay area (capital hill) and downtown. Easy to walk anywhere in the downtown area and also the buses are free to ride within downtown. You will have shopping, movie theaters resturants all right outside of your hotel and 6 blocks to the Seattle Eagle and 2 more blocks to R place and several other bars/clubs right in that area. And if you want to take a taxi I'm sure it couldn't be more then 5 or 6 bucks. Seattle is a great town, you will definatley enjoy it. I hope to visit there next month as I am now in Arizona and missing the wet NW weather.
