I looked up the Friends Behind the Wall thing.  It's so sad.  I feel bad for these people even though I know they were convicted of something.  I'm sure if I knew what their crimes were I might not feel so sad for them.

I'm with you on that; it is saddening in some cases.  I know that some people have done serious monstrosities, but others are there on charges that could never be compared to murder.  They come out with limited opportunities in all respects (forget about love, just finding a job is a difficult task for these people).  One cannot judge without context.

You know, I agree with alot that and not judging without context to a certain extent. However most of the people in Jail (at least in Tx) have been around the block a few times. Most of these people have offended and re-offended and then finally end up in Prison, very few are first time offenders (except maybe drug traffickers and Capital Murder convicts), Hell I had a friend in Austin that was busted with a half ounce of cocaine(intent to distribute) and was staring at 10 years in prison, he received 2months in county jail and 9 years probation, THEN was caught with a small baggie of coke while on probation...guess what happened to him, No additional jail time, he just had to wear an ankle monitor for 3 months. It would probably take him 2 or 3 more screw up to do some real hard time in prison.

My point is these people in prison at some point had plenty of chances to change the direction of their lives and did not do it. While I like to think of myself as a compassionate person, my compassion runs a little thin here. Yes I know there are exceptions to every rule, but overall these people are hardcore.

I agree with plenty of what you said.  One thing I find odd about these inmate adds is the fact that some of them request/are looking for "financially secure" pen pals.  That's a red flag of some sort.

Good question. Coincidentally, a friend of mine confided in me last week that he joined a group in the States who become pen-pals of incarcerated people. He showed me the draft of his first introductory letter and I had to giggle - the first paragraph sounded like he was looking for a boyfriend. (I'm 5'7", light brown hair, blue eyes, well-built etc etc etc) I asked him why he would want to write to someone in jail halfway across the world and he said he wanted to do something good for someone. He reckons that it would be interesting for someone in the States to be communicating with someone who lives on a Rock in the middle of the Irish Sea. Go figure.

All of the ex-cons I've bagged have been excellent fucks.  Another of my ex-bf's is currently in maximum security in upstate NY.  About five years ago I got a collect phone call from him but he wouldn't tell me exactly what got him in there, but whatever it was he said he didn't do it.  I saw him pulverize a guy once on the street and had to read him for getting blood on a brand new white Helmut Lang tank top he'd borrowed.  I was a bit over that.

And I've been with some who weren't good at all in the sack,  (and some who were); it went way too fast, of course that could just speak to how good I am.   Quite a few past relationships were with felons.  And I never accepted collect calls from anyone in jail or prison; the calls are very costly. 

I watched a program about the Green River Killer.  There was a woman in the jury who moved next to the prison the guy was in, so she could be near.  That's got to be some kind of mental illness.

He's still around, I believe, and he outlived my cats, which was a big issue. His daddy, however passed away last year.

In closing, you can't help who you fall in love with, but you can help running into them. Mostly by not seeking out cons or ex-cons. And by not ending sentences with prepositions that might influence who you end up with.

I used to feel so guilty wearing a wife beater in the summer time, so, I threw all mine out in the trash, I got sick of looking like one, and being accused of being a wife beater , so now I just sick to tee-shirts
