Size is important, says Family Planning Association

UK Health Service Journal Article:

The Family Planning Association is calling on the NHS to provider a wider selection of condoms in different sizes and shapes to help tackle sexually transmitted disease.

Research commissioned by the FPA shows that 35 per cent of condom users have experienced a condom splitting or coming off, and 25 per cent said they had no idea that condoms are available in different sizes.

The study has been released to mark Sexual Health Week, which begins today.

And the material matters too. Defintely prefer polyurethane over latex.

Any users of the "female" condom, men as well as women, want to give us a report?

Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

Not to be big headed, but I can only use trash-can liners. They are the only ones big enough. Or something. It was funny when it was in my head..

NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.

Oh, please...as if latex does not stretch enough already.

The average cock is like 6 inches...who are these people demading larger sizes and do any of you have their phone number?

I find the whole thing amusing, but if mr. johnny 6 inch thinks he is 8, give him an 8 inch condom if thats what it takes!

Sure, latex stretches, but an overtight condom feels AFWUL. Just sayin'  ::)

So I read some stuff about the female condom. One gay guy's comment: it's like fucking a plastic bag. Inter-est-ing.

Check out the Large Penis Support Group. A lot of discrimination bravely suffered.

I actually like the female condom.  I never really enjoyed using a regular condom, which is why I guess I am here.  But, anyway, I find to the female condom is much better for the top than a regular condom

Hi Grasshopper,

There is information on the use of the female condom for anal intercourse available through the condom link in my signature line. As it's a different page than the one linked to, I'll post it here for you.

Female condoms for anal sex

My partner and I use them occasionally and we both like them. They can be expensive and difficult to find though. The ones we had were bought in Amsterdam from a place called the Condomerie Check out the condom sizing charts on their website.

I like to encourage women to try them because they give us some control over condom use - an aspect that many people overlook. A female condom can be put in place before things get too steamy - a time when it can be difficult to get a man to put one on. They can be fiddly to learn to use, but if you can use a tampon you can use these with a little practice. There are also women's instructions on the site I linked to earlier.

Hope that helps!

Ann

Ann: That's a great link. Thanks. It says Although female condoms are essentially not designed for the purpose, some gay men have used them and it seems they do provide an effective barrier during anal sex.

Don't re–use the female condom. Some gay men are reported to have used a female condom as a semi–permanent barrier to HIV, being fucked by multiple partners. The female condom is designed for vaginal sex and for single use. If you use it more than once for anal sex, we don't know the strains that it could put on the sides of the sheath, which might easily tear. And if you get a lot of semen in the female condom, we don't know how effective it is in holding it in, or whether any seepage into your rectum could take place. It is likely that fucking in somebody else's cum would also be dangerous for your partners.

 :o

Again, thanks! I'm all for trying new thingies  8)
