Sustiva in fridge? Yes or no?
« on: March 01, 2007, 02:18:22 am »
I have a question to anyone who might know... I've been unable to find this info...

I have quite the substantial quantity of meds... three months of Sustiva and not as much Truvada (with more on the way!  huzzah!).  Should I stick the extras in the fridge, or will the medicine cabinet suffice?

Thank you!

Also, I would like to add how much more I like the Truvada blue.

I feel like Parker Posey.

They switched me... I was pink, now I'm blue.  I wanted pills to match my eyes.  Color me beautiful.

I would add that it might be a better idea to store it outside of the bathroom (you mentioned medicine cabinet) because moisture is not a friend to the Truvada.  Steam from the shower might be too much.  I might be worrying over nothing, but they put the desiccant in the Truvada bottle for a reason.  Of course, I read that medicines, in general, probably should be kept away from excess moisture -- so medicine cabinets may be "bad".   ;D

I keep all my meds. except Norvir which does need to be refrigerated under the kitchen sink, in the shipping plastic  bags (just in case of a sink issue) in the shipping boxes.  Win

Hope this is not hijacking, but Matt, should I not keep Truvada in the fridge?

I get three months of Kaletra (capsules) and Truvada at a time, and just throw all of them into the fridge. Is this bad?

Truvada in fridge no, it contains a desiccant in the bottle to prevent moisture absorption. Room temp in a dry place please, not in bathroom, damp place, screw the lid on the bottle proper like, and keep in original container (or at least with desiccant if transferred). Okay to keep, say, in a tin/dosette for a week etc. -matt

Hmm, I haven't started mine yet, but I'm wondering if maybe since we're talking about putting em in the fridge if I can't just mix em up in some nice jello shots ; )

Put batteries in the fridge, not your drugs.

Cool dry dark space at normal room temp.

Yeah, we keep all ours in the kitchen also. Norvir and Marinol in the Fridge.  The rest in a kitchen cabinet.  He has his shelf, I have mine.
