Thanks for that link. It sounds great on paper. But 35% going to undetectable VL in 6 weeks seems just a little hard to believe. And there is no actual study of flax hull lignans in people with HIV that I could find. But I hope it really works.

  • red pill? or blue pill?
Check your sources, folks.  The research group publishing this information
"AIDS Research and Assistance Institute"  says that it is a non-profit (501) on its website.

It also has a link on its website to sell the stuff talked about in this article....

Just saying....

I DO think its great to research nutrition and alternative therapies. However.....

I have seen so many of these types of "announcements" over the years I rarely pay them much attention.

I would love for some simple solution to be found - such as these flax hull things.

But, as is all to often the case, there are some pretty substantial claims made, yet no science to back it up.

And. as Mecch points out, they are hawking the stuff on their web side - always a red flag.

HUGS,

Mark

Yes, I agree. This one looks like a bust. The stuff is not new and they have been pushing it for a long time. If there was really something to that supplement for HIV/AIDS, you would think there would be at least one scientific study about it by now.

Seriously, no offense, but this appears to lead down a line of reasoning that concludes by saying new scams are better than old scams.

The key point is that there is no science to back up the claims.  It's one thing when there is no effective medical alternative -- but nowadays we have HAART.  Rather than put untested stuff into our bodies new or old, why not use medicine that is documented and where know a lot more about what potential side effects to watch out for?

No, new scams are no better than old scams. I wouldn't put something in my body that is untested and doesn't have any research either, old or new.

But sometimes I will try something "new" that has had only some limited research, maybe an in vitro study showing effect against HIV, and a safety study showing supplementation is OK in humans, ie. even if there is not necessarily a study showing that supplementation in humans is helpful against HIV.

As to why not use HAART, you won't find me advocating not using HAART. I think the use of supplements is an independent issue from the use of HAART, and the two are not exclusive.

  • As My WILL, So MOTE It Be !
I've watched their video (ARAI) and it seems very pro "evangelistical" in essence to me.Wouldn't be surprised if one needs to add holy water to the ligans for any miracle to work.

Best thing is to find someone here who really has tried this stuff and feedback the results here. Otherwise, I'll pass...way too many supplements in my body already. Still digesting my Sutherlandia. :o

Strange how miracle cures always seem to originate or have something to do with Africa. ::)

Unfortunately, sounds purely commercial to me, and as such, pure bullshit

https://aidshivawareness.c6.ixwebhosting.com/order.htm

If some of you try, it won't probably hurt, excepting that you might loose money.

Now anti-oxydants are well known to be beneficial for the health (eg green tea).

So if some of you get results, fine.
But 35% undetectable seems far much too high, and bigger noise would have been made from this news.

In more, in the front page of this "non-profit organization" (hum hum), you see flashing "buy flax".
I haven't see the study.

My two cents so far is: we should close this organization !
