Missed Norvir one time
« on: March 28, 2009, 06:20:07 pm »
Hi folks.  I'm on Reyetaz, Tenofovir, Atanazavir, and Norvir to boost the Reyetaz.  I went away on an overnight trip and forgot the Norvir (I guess because I keep it in a different place than the others - namely in the fridge).

Unfortunately I was unable to reach my doctors as it was a weekend night, nor was returning immediately feasible.

So, I took my normal dose at my normal time - 11:00PM, excepting of course the missing Norvir.  Then I took another Reyetaz the next day at lunchtime - I theorized that this might help with the presumably lowered Reyetaz levels, given that there was no Norvir to boost them.  I then returned home and took my full normal dose, including Norvir, at 9:00PM, thus moving it up two hours (I'd been considering doing this anyway).

I'm just wondering if anyone has any opinions or advice about how risky or damaging this might have been?  Does anyone thing my method of trying to deal with the problem might have helped or not?  Of course I greatly fear resistance..

So?

It's not the daily taking that matters here. Norvir tunrs on certain pathways in your liver that block excretion of PIs, so missing the odd Norvir won't do squit

Wow, thanks so much for your kind response Newt - I did not know that!  I was so worried, but you have reassured me.

I did get one of my doctors on the phone the next afternoon and he just said 'don't worry about it', though I had already cut my trip a day short.  Oh well, live and learn.
